Folded Star Ornaments
1 Attachment(s)
One of my traditions each Thanksgiving is to place a little gift bag full of little gifts and an ornament at each seat around the table. This is my ornament this year... It's called Scandanavian Folded Star and is on YouTube... Probably been around for years but I just stumbled on them. These were so much fun to make and they whip out quick. These 7 took me about 2 hours. Once I got the hang of it, it went quick... I used Christmas fabric but my next batch for present toppers for out of state family will be traditional fabrics... These are 3" in size but you can make them any size.

|
Really cute! I've never seen them before now.

What a cute idea - thanks for the tip

Lovely little stars..you are a good soul!...my friends and I decided to make these...they aren't as easy as it looks...nimble fingers are needed. We each made one and decided that was enough:D
|
They turned out beautifully. I wouldn't have thought of using white-on-white for them, but that one is my favorite. TFS
|
Those look wonderful! I may have to fit those into my "have to make those before Christmas" schedule!
|
Your stars are lovely!

Cute little stars! Thanks for the lead on the youtube video~ :)

When I was a girl we used to make these with paper and then dip them in wax and sprinkle glitter on them. Haven't seen them in fabric before this.

A few weeks ago my sisters and I made about 70 of these stars. I had cut and pressed the Christmas fabric before our reunion. We did them in kind of an assembly line fashion while sitting on my sister's porch in northwestern North Carolina looking out on the mountains. The memories will be treasured forever. Anyway, I plan to give a star to each of the guild members at our Christmas party (just have them available in a basket). The people in the guild have helped me so much with my Days for Girls feminine hygiene kits this past year. I have saved some stars out to give to my "Loose Threads" church sewing group too.
My advice on doing this craft with a group is to have each table of 4 or 5 people have one leader who has been pre-trained and practiced. It would make everything go smoother. |
Your stars came out great.
|
Those are great! I've been looking for a little something that I could whip up quickly. Thanks for the link!

Rob My local family received their gift bags with ornaments today and loved them. So they were a hit... |
Teen, I'm going to make some for packages. Won't that be cute? My kids can have yet another ornament from Mom lol
I just finished a sweater and haven't had anything to do at night. This is perfect. |
Those are darling! You could do a whole tree of them!
|
SusieQ.....I'm doing the same thing with mine...Present toppers will be perfect!!! I'm matching wrapping paper and fabrics....looks cool, too.
Boston....a whole tree would be fun, too! |
Thanks again Teen! I jumped in and have had fun making these. Needed Mr. Domestic's directions, but they are easy and fun, and best of all quick!
|
OH Annie....so glad you enjoyed making them. Please share pictures of your ornaments. Isn't Mr. Domestic a hoot? Lol..

Those are adorable ornaments. Thank you for sharing where you got the pattern. I think I will have to go and check out Utube. I think this would be a great little gift to add to my goodies that I give the neighbors.
|
Where can I get written instructions for these. I tried to follow one on you tube but could never make them?
Thanks for any help you can give me Cathy Antone tumrub |

Very nice! I'll have to try this sometime. the kids and I used to make paper ones for the tree years ago.
|
Beautiful! I love making these.
|
Those stars are done just like the paper Moravian stars I’ve been making but the fabric ones are just made with the first step. They’re lovely and it will be a project for my church Ladies group for this year 😁

I went on a trip with about 45 people. I made two assorted gifts for each of them. We stop at a place that had these little stars in their gift shop. A couple on the trip bought me one of these, as she knew I like to make things. It was my first time seeing them.
Yours came out very nice. Thank you Teen for posting a link to the instructions. I may just have to try a few. |
I made those once in a group. They can be quite pretty.
