Bring your trash, unwanted pets, buggy tree limbs to my country property and you'll find yourself in front of a judge. Why do you think your problem should become someone else's? Just because property is in the "country" doesn't mean someone else isn't having to care for it. Sheesh!

I am with Mermaid; I remember my dad doing that years and years ago in Ohio; am in TX now and I've not seen many here; either I don't have the right trees OR they don't like the heat (but neither do I). Good luck in getting rid of them.

Please don't take these bugs to another location to become someone else's problem. That's like dumping your garbage in your neighbors yard. Get rid of your own bugs. mho

It is also illegal in most places we have several do not transport firewood or some other things . I would be really mad if some one brought them to my neck of the woods. So far so good here but I do see alot of them along the roads. They also do not have anything that will eat them birds will move out and not touch them.

Some people are, "High and mighty" about using chemicals, but dump their problems on someone else. Not nice.

Here in KY, we had a problem a few years ago with foals mysteriously dying. In horse country, this was very upsetting! They finally realized that it was the tent worms that were killing them. The tent worms that had nested (and feasted) in cherry trees would fall to the ground and be eaten by the foals as they were grazing in the grass. Since the foals were so much smaller than their mothers, there were enough toxins ingested by the worms from the cherry trees to cause the foals to sicken and die. So they can cause other problems even more serious than the damage they do to trees.

Hey, I live out in the country, and I am tired of suburban folks coming out here and dropping off their kittens, puppies, raccoons, black bears, and now tent caterpillars to eat my cherry and apple trees and find new digs. Please deal with them in your own area or I will "deal" with them in an un-peaceful way you wont like.

This thread went sideways! Nobody is going to 'capture' forest tent caterpillars and release them into another location!

DH and I got as many as we could by cutting them out of the trees. We must have seen them just as they were coming out of the nests, as they were gathered in huge clusters. We feel we removed (and burned them -sorry folks but they are vermin) the majority of them.

The trees lost minimal foliage and look lovely.
