free pattern for a baby sleep sack

I'm looking for a free pattern to make sleep sacks for my grandson. He doesn't live near me so I can't trace anything for size. Can anyone help me with a free pattern and suggestions for what kind of fabrics work best for winter.

I googled "free pattern sleep sack", and this was one of the results. I have made them using just one layer of fleece.

Just be sure to leave some growing room. I hope he doesn't get too warm in it.

i used to make these for all my kids. However i made them out of flannel with a drawstring bottom so they could still use them in the summer and when they got taller. Buttrick used to have a pattern in their infant patterns that included the closed bottom nightgowns. The heavier sleepers like this can get awkward. The air force child development centers use ones made from a heavy flannel or light fleece instead of blankets for the babies. That way the child can't get caught up in blankets and suffocate. The ones for the littler baby's actually wrap around like they are being swaddled and fasten with Velcro. Some babies sleep much better in them than with blankets once they get used to them.
