It's been a while since I posted any pictures. Here's hoping I remember how!! Trying to get pictures was a riot. They seem to know when the shutter is going to click to move. It was also late in the day and the lighting wasn't the best.

In the middle picture the fateful meeting outside the chicken yards where they are separated. It took the big hens a minute to realize what was going on . Then they took turns chasing them away from the rooster, Golden Boy. He is such a sweetheart. Well they all survived........By the way, the white hen is the only one without a topknot. !

they are beautiful, thanks for the pictures. it's amazing that they 'protected' the darn tootin rooster, of all things!!
How old are they now. are the ones without the top knot roosters? when will you have babies? what will you do with the beautiful feathers. |
This chickens are just too cute! I've never seen this type before. Do you get eggs from them? (Probably a dumb question) Oh, well. Thanks for sharing.

They are gorgeous!!!!!!! I've been checking back for pics and am so glad you posted.
Yes I'm a small town girl but love critters of all kinds. |
Thanks for the pictures. They are so cute. I love the one with the golden chest. Hope they all get along. The bigger hens probably were picking on the little ones.

Great pics. I think the lighting is perfect.

Thanks for the memories. You made my day. Does anyone remember going to the Dime Store ( ours was Woolworth ) around Easter and buying a baby chick that had been dyed a pastel color? There were 4 of us and we each got to choose a color. Mine was always pink, my sister got a lavender one, one brother got a blue one and the other brother got a green one. I can't believe my Mom actually let us keep them in a box in the house until they got big enough to put outside. LOL I also recall baby chicks being ordered from the hatcheries and the mail man delivering them in a cardboard box.

My mother was a postmaster in the small town we grew up in. One time in the dead of winter a shipment of baby chicks arrived about 250, yep in the mail (before UPS and FED-EX). She kept having trouble with the heat in the post office and it got really cold. The customer was out of town so MOM called her supervisor and asked if she could bring them home to keep them warm. back then she got the OK. Didn't want any dead chicks. I can still remember 11:30 at night listening to nothing but peeps coming from the living room. 250 peepers make a lot of noise. My sister raised bantams for awhile but couldn't get the money out of them she could get from the larger egg layers. She still kept them.

They are unusual from the chickens my great Aunt and Uncle raised on their Kansas farm. They are beautiful.
They are so wonderful. I think they are so neat. My Aunt used to raise all kinds of different chickens and I think the Frizzles were always my favorite.
They are gorgeous. Love their fringe.
Such cuties! Love their "do's" :)
Ditter, they are beautiful-I think I would want to have them as house pets.
Oh they are so cute! I love their feathers
They're really cute, and they bring back memories. My Nebraska grandmother always kept chickens.
I've never seen any of these before. They are so cute!
Beautiful Ditter. Now, you need to make a quilt featuring them.
I know this sounds stupid but what color are the eggs? I cant make myself eat brown eggs, It stupid I know ,just my little problem
omg how cute are those chickens, are they polish crested?
What breed are these adorable little fluff-ball critters?
Great pictures. I love the farm stuff also. This comes from my childhood, where I grew up in a small town and out in the country.

My tile layer lives in Tulsa and says you can have 6 hens and one rooster. I also had a niece that lived in gated addition and had 6 hens. I live in ok too and my son has 12 hens and no rooster because you don,t want rooster because the hens start hiding their eggs. he has all kinds of fuzzy one bought in Lebanon,Mo.at hatchery. they are fun to watch.you can check the law in Tulsa. They don,t smell or make any noise but you do have to protect them from raccons.dogs and fox,

Ohhh, these are so cute! Chickens and bantams are such fun to watch. My mom always had them as I was growing up. I always visit the Chicken Barn at the State Fair to see all the varieties, but I have never seen these; they make me smile! : )
Oh, this took me back through the years. My dad raised chickens for eggs and meat, but he built me a little enclosure for my own flock of bantams under the stairway in the barn. They were so colorful and such fun to raise. Now that my 3 year old granddaughter lives with us, maybe I can convince the Grandpa I sleep with to build us a little chicken coop so she can enjoy them, too. Anyone in the mood for a six egg omlet?
Great little chickens, Ditter! When I was a girl, we had banties for a while. Loved their little eggs, and they were so cute. Dont know why the folks didn't keep them a little longer, but great memories.
