In a funk
OK I cannot get motivated to start a new project, I am bored if I don't and just can't get started. It just may be this long long winter, I just want something easy and scrappy. I hate when this happens.
|
me, too -- I also get frustrated with all my unfinished projects -- viewing the pictures on QB sometimes provides me with motivation -- there are several scrappy quilts I want to make, but just haven't gotten them started -- good luck!!-- spring is well underway here and the sun is shining -- hope spring is coming to you soon!!

You guys are not alone. Include me, too!

I can understand this winter being a problem...I live a bit south of you.
Last night, I started taking apart a big box of scraps and sorting it into colors, etc. I am now trying to figure out how to work all of this into a quilt...I'm thinking postage stamp. I did this before and would make up big squares of the little squares. I make mine 2" and 8 to a row...so 8 wide X 8 long gives you a good size square. I just stack them up until I have enough. |
OK here is what you do. get all unfinished projects put the hardest on the botton and the easyest on top get your space ready to sew. put the pile of tops or projects behind you so you get discourgaged and put a small bowl of M&M at your sewing machine, Then put your big girl panties on and get to sewing. lol lol lol:D:D

I was getting bored too, just finished a queen size quilt. GD needed some small things for a fundraiser so that got me going again. Made pencil cases, pie potholders, small tabletoppers just using some free 18 inch square block patterns. Made some stash scottie puppy dog patterns etc. As you can see that got me going again. Just love making things for gk's

Do something that is small and gets done fast. That will get you back on track . Always works for me. Do the tissue holders. The are fast and so cute.
|
Delta - I'm with you. MUST have M&M's handy. Of course, I have to mix the plain with the peanut (I'm a little OCD about it...)
|
Make something small like the the pie potholders, Easter carrots, tissue holder etc.
|
Sorry I'm of no help. But welcome to funkville! LOL
|
When I get my baby quilt done, I'm making a little quilt for my friend's GD. We are coming up on the second anniversary of when her daughter died suddenly. I know this quilt will be loved and appreciated so that will make me feel better. Kind of get me out of my March Funk.
|
I am making new sheers to fit my dining room windows, just remodeled it. I never get tired or in a funk with quilt making. Sometimes I do have to do other things. I have a new sewing room and will never get tired of sewing in there.
|
When I get in a funk I just wait until the mood passes. Meanwhile I will still thumb through quilt magazines and/or knitting books until something hits me and I know that is what I really do want to work on..then I'm off!!!

I felt like that a few weeks ago so, I saw a pattern for a knitted body warmer, haven't knitted for years but have almost completed it, I am now so excited to soon be quilting again, already have a wholecloth marked out and ready to go as soon as that last stitch has been knitted!!!!!!!!

I am with you all the way. Just grab some scraps and make a crazy quilt pillow top. That will get the juices flowing

I just finished sandwiching and quilting a little charity quilt made from a panel. It's Clifford the Big Red Dog and because he's so cute it actually made me smile while quilting it! This was a pretty quick and easy project that's been languishing in my sewing room for quite a long time. It gave me a feeling of accomplishment. I'm now going to start ironing and cutting up my scrap collection, because doing this little project got my "mojo" back!
|
Me too...I have been working on this one quilt for months, I get frustrated and don't quilt at all. I must have it completely done and in the mail by the end of July. I always do this when I get stuck on my math skills on a quilt made not from a pattern. UGH!

I have a bowl of wrapped up chocolates!

Been thru a no quilting,no sewing "whatever" that lasted 2yrs.Don't know what started it,nor what ended it,so I'm no help.
Maybe sorting/folding fabric, quilt mags or looking at quilt blogs? Good luck & happy Spring. |
Me too. Mr stitchnripper has had some health issues and I have been unmotivated for months. I don't even like looking at my stuff. I did get a "stuck" 401 last week and it was fun getting it unstuck. But as for sewing, still no interest. I'm trusting it will come back one day.

You need a spring tonic. Sulfur and molasses is what they used to take. After a long, cold winter we all need a little iron to boost our blood. :p
