I was inspired to start this thread by a conversation in the PDA.

I am going to add funny little anecdotes when I think of things that I think you might enjoy. Primarily mine will be things that have happened in my family.

I invite anyone to add to the thread anything that will be of interest to the board. Please limit it to cute funny or interesting accounts.

This way if something comes up in someone else's thread and I don't want to highjack anyone's thread I can post the story here! So feel free to share your funnies and crazy little anecdotes here for all to read!!

Ok here is my first anecdote!!

My sons were fishing with a couple of boys when the boys were all give or take around 10 to 12. My youngest son walked behind one of the boys as he went to swing the rod back behind him to cast the line out into the water.

As luck would have it DS had walked into the danger zone and the boy's treble hook landed in the exact center of DS's left cheek of his rear!
It was in just under the skin but being a treble hook I couldn't just push it out the other side of the skin. so I had to put him in the van and take him to the doctor to have it removed! All the way there he kept asking me if the doctor would put him under to take out the hook!!! I assured him that would not be necessary! Not what he wanted to hear!!!

But with a small amount of local anesthesia in the area-- the doc cut the hook off and worked the rest of it out! DS was very relieved!!

Of course the family never let him forget that fishing adventure!!

My DD was about 14 when we were on a road trip, as she was waking up from a nap in the front seat, she seen the grill of a semi coming right at her and screamed loud enough we all about wet ourselves...

It was being towed backwards, by another semi that was in front of us...at 27, she is still teased whenever we see one being towed....

We used to live out in the country. The neighbor had sheep in the corral behind our house.
DH had just planted a new apple tree in the area of our garden on one side of the driveway. We lived on the edge of a main busy highway.
My middle child now almost 33 confessed that when we lived there ( the kids were 7 / 8 / and 9) that they used to open the gate and let the sheep out!
The sheep would get out on the busy highway and we would go running for our cars to help the neighbor round up the sheep and get them back in the fence. This seemed to happen quite frequently! One time we found some of the sheep chewing up DH's little apple tree! He was not amused!!!!!
I never knew until a couple of years ago that our kids were the culprits!! DS said they thought it was so funny to see us go flying out to rustle up the sheep!!! Kids!!! Gotta love them!! Right???

My oh my, nothing like a round up, Huh Rhonda???

My older brother had a fixation with watching our dad fix flat tires...so if on the farm one had not been fixed in a while...DB would pound a nail in a tire and sit back and wait for dad to notice... apparently DB also enjoyed hearing dad curse...as usually it wasn't found until dad was getting ready to leave for work!!!! My DB told me this 20 years after our dad had passed....as this happened 15 years before I was born...He never did work up the courage to tell him that he was the culprit!!!

When Nathan was about 11 or 12 we had this one upmanship thing going on. He would pop in the window when I was doing dishes to scare me. Or I would play a trick on him etc.
So one Christmas I worked in a Christian book store and the kids would come and hang out til it was time to go home. This winter Nathan and his friend Jamie went to the tv store just up the street from where I worked and got a big box that the old type of floor model tvs came in. Probably 3 ft by 3ft square. They then went to the second hand book store and made a deal with the owners and filled the box with Harlequin books which I read all the time. Then they wrapped it up and using their skateboards with Jamie riding on top to keep everything in place they pushed that huge box down the street and around the corner and brought it into the store where I was and put it in the corner til we went home.
In the mean time I asked Nathan to help gift wrap packages for people. Which he did. What I didn't tell him was some of the packages and boxes he gift wrapped was his own Christmas gifts from his dad and me!!

So on Christmas eve we opened gifts. I only knew there were probably books in the box. When I opened it there were over 300 books in that box!!!! And I told Nathan he had gift wrapped his own Christmas gifts!!
It was a fun time to play jokes on each other. I had had to help put that huge box in our van to get it home but was forbidden to look inside!

Looking back on the situations, it's much funnier now than when my son was in 2nd grade & thought it was fun to call the Fire Dept & report a fire on the street below, after his Dad & I had left for work 20 miles away in San Francisco. After a few times of this, I got a call from the Fire Captain at work. They had traced the call to our house, called & my son answered. He asked him if he'd been calling in erroneous fires, to which my son confessed. The Captain made my ex-husband bring him to the Fire Dept & explained the seriousness of his pranks. Needless to say, that was the end of his calling the Fire Dept. The next time he didn't want to do homework, he told me he was going to call the Hotline if kids though they were being abused. (This was in California, back in the late 1970-'s). I told him to go right ahead & the Counselor calmly told him his Mother had the right to insist he do homework and that he wasn't being abused. The look on his face told the rest of the story. We didn't have any more trouble getting him to do homework. When my son's kids are acting up now & he gets upset, I just look at him & say, "hey remember when.........?" He lightens up & starts laughing. What goes around comes around!

Kids and their antics..... :

Our reward after raising our kids: Watching our grands repeating our kids antics and getting to sit back and chuckle behind our hands, while watching our kids wanting to pull their hair out  :D  :D

So funny now!! Yeah my son Nathan gets upset and I say I seem to remember when........

Nathan left home at the age of 16. I could have drug him home but I chose to keep in touch instead. So he had friends who drank and he drank and I just prayed. My other son got involved in a dare that ended up with us in court with him when he was 17.
When Nathan's daughter was about 14 she lied to her parents and went to a keg party that was held in a corn field! The party was raided and everyone but Nicci had a backup plan. Someone to call to come and pick them up etc. So everyone but Nicci and her girlfriend scattered leaving the two girls to get caught by the cops.
Nathan couldn't believe she was so dumb as to not have a back up plan!! He said he and his friend Jeremy always had a back up plan!!
I was like Nathan Wayne!!! For pete's sake!!! Nicci did get in big trouble with mom and dad tho!! When my youngest got in trouble Nathan's comment then was that he did alot of the same things he just didn't get caught!!!

I am so glad I am not raising kids anymore!!!!!!! Tho you might think my kids grew to be delinquents but they are reasonably responsible people!!! Both boys are electricians now so I guess they grew up somewhere along the way!!! LOL
