Rocketeers are about as heavy as I'd want to try.

I bought my first sewing machine in 1966 from Sears. There was no way I could have lifted it above my waist. It was a portable but extremely heavy. I eventually gave it to a charitable organization that was involved in teaching teenagers how to sew.

I bought my featherweight for class sewing because my Berninas are too heavy to transport for me. My Singer treadle has sat in the same spot for 20 years and it will be up to someone else to move it when I’m gone. Of course as heavy as all the old mechanical machines are, they last better then the new plastic ones.

My treadle machine is very heavy and so is my ICON.

LOL. They were! I'd probably use my Bernina 930 more if it didn't weigh a ton. I can barely get it lifted to the table.

Too funny! That why all my vintage machines are in cabinets! I could never imagine having to lift them and move them all the time otherwise!
