Fur coats for making teddy bears

not sure which category this would go in, hopefully its ok here. Is anyone interested in some genuine fur coats for making into heirloom teddy bears?

I made some years ago out of old fur coats. There is some work to the project but they were a big hit.

We have a lady in our area that teaches this. I wanted to go to the class last yr at the quilt show but it was cancelled. I have grandkids who love what ever I do and I've been wanting to make these for about 3 yrs now. Maybe before they are grown I'll be able to afford to make them. I've seen the discounted fur fabric but when you tug on the "fur" it comes out. Not something that I want to make for my babies.

I bought a new fur coat last year - not a good quality, it was rabbit- and used it to trim a sweater that my 10 yr old GD had. Her sweater had a fake fur collar that had been washed and looked horrible, so I replaced it. She really felt dressed up with real fur. It took one sleeve for her collar, will use another sleeve for another collar some time and when she is large enough will make a vest out of the rest of the coat. There's a lot of use for those coats besides teddy bears.

I used to sell and design furs.
even if its rabbit, sotre it properly otherwise your skins will dry out
Quicker than you can imagine. W
wrap it in a clean white pillowcas or fabric, 100% cotton only.
prewash to get gunk out of faabric.roll the coat and put in pillowcase.

No fabricsoftner
no plastic bags
no plastic garmet bags.
if you have a cedar closet, store n there.
keep it dry. You can also made pillows of cotton filled with cedar cchips in the pet dept. Really cheap.
if the coat is light colored, it will oxidize and show more. Even a darker color will oxidize, it will look lighter.
call your local furrier for more hints.
my fnger hurt from typing.
good luck.
