compared to the cost of a round trip ticket from one side of the country to another, i'd say it's still a deal.

Don't forget the business size flat rate envelopes! Wooooo!

watterstide 04-12-2011 02:45 AM

LOL! i had a friend who worked at the post office, and she always said " people don't complain about spending $10 a gallon for water (the small bottled water, adds up) but they gripe about a couple cents for postage rates.!

at least the regular 1st class and flt rate didn't go up!

i got my free shipping material in the mail ,from the post office, yesterday. including the "letter size" flat rate envies, which i had never seen before!

You mean the LEGAL size FRE?

The best are the new padded FRE's. I'm on my second box already (of 100). It's amazing how much you can stuff in there without using tape. With tape - another couple of yards. ;-)

Of course, not one postal service employee at the counter had a clue what they were when I first brought them in, and kept arguing with me that they needed to charge by weight.   I bought a cheapie back up printer so I never have to deal with that again.

i got package of them delivered to my house, free.
but i don't know the charge for them? is it the same as the regular flat rate envies?

No, the LEGAL and PADDED FRE's are $4.95, no discount online, but DC is still free.

And be careful, as PayPal doesn't have them set up yet (big surprise) in the shipping options. I've been using the regular FRE option, which is the $4.75 discounted rate. I haven't had a problem yet (in terms of returned packages or postage due). But if I have them available, I'll slap a 20 cent on the package with the label.

USPS.com does have the different options with the correct amounts.

As for the padded envelopes, the most you can order online is ONE box of 15. Annoying. I got the box of 100 by calling the 800 number - you need a USPS business account. An ebay ID is enough to qualify you.

Yeah, that "FLAT RATE" printed on the front is sooooo hard to understand...
