Yesterday was 5-6 hours planting and weeding. This morning hubby helped me get the mulch down. I'm pleased.

Happy Memorial Day!

Beautiful gardens! The foals were tired watching you work.

I wish i had time to garden- walked around this morning- stupid deer at the tops of the phlox! Getting out the Irish Spring soap- too late for them, but maybe something else with benefit.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Karla, Now that you've practiced I think you're ready to come help me in my yard! :D No? Ahhhh!
Your yard is beautiful and will be even prettier as summer progresses. Everything is so lush and green. Neat place to sit with a tall glass of iced lemonade and a good book. Or perhaps some quilting handwork.

Barnbum, the garden and plants are fabulous of course. But...., I was so afraid there would be no foal pics til I got to the end of your message. I should have known you would not forget to post some pics of them too. I do luv dem babies.

Shemjo 05-24-2009 10:29 AM

Everything looks so beautiful and fresh! I remember the sodden pictures earlier this year! It was worth it to get to the beauty of NOW!
The foals got tired of waiting for their turn for fun!
Thank you for brightening my life with your great photography!

OK Karla, now that you have worked so hard, you should go by your babies and sit down and you will probably have one or two lap horsies to cuddle with...What a way to relax..........................

drivin*me*buggy 05-24-2009 03:38 PM

Nice job! You are an inspiration! :)

Karla I always love your gardens...this year don't forget to show us some as it grows and is blooming!

As for the foals...well, its a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!

Bill'sBonBon 05-24-2009 04:34 PM

Beautiful, those flowers are gorgeous. The Babies are just plane tuckered out from all the work.

tlrnhi 05-24-2009 06:39 PM

As always, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
I see Snickers was helping Mark too! :)

The flowers are awesome and that Snowball is just too beautiful!

As to the foals,,,,well, they were supervising. Although in a reclined postion, they were still supervising.

Snickers isn't holding your shirt down because of the wind. It's gravity she's fighting. She wants to make sure gravity doesn't take over and the shirt float away. lol

Good work!
Your gardens are beautiful .... and, so inviting under the trees, and lots of sunshine ...
all the pictures say: God is in his heaven and the world is a beautiful place!
Just think! This is all but a taste of things to come.
Thank you for sharing!

Your gardens are so pretty. Glad the kitty helped too.

Marcia 05-24-2009 08:50 PM

Karla--everything looks so lush and gorgeous. You definitely have a green thumb.

Those are just wonderful photos!

What a transformation your place takes on in the spring. I understand your 'cabin fever' as it is known in our parts for the mud and snow to disappear. Your pics of the blooms and foals are just the best. I would want to spend 5-6 hours outdoors on a day like that too!

sewjoyce 05-25-2009 06:56 AM

Wonderful photos, Karla!! Thanks so much for sharing!

Your cat was on your sweatshirt because 1) -- she doesn't have her own outside quilt and 2) the grass tickles her belly.

Beautiful gardens! Cute pics of foals and kitty! What a great helper she is!

Celeste 05-25-2009 04:52 PM

It's overwhelmingly beautiful!

barnbum 05-25-2009 05:06 PM

Thank you for all your kindness.

I've had a most wonderful three days off...today was another full day. Both kids were here so we had a cook out! Both foals had a leading lesson, and Jazz and I went ground driving for a little ways. The farmers were busy planting fields, so had big scary tractors and trucks in the lanes  where we go. They plowed and planted my playground too (harvested fields). Rats.

The horses stayed out until 8:45 tonight because it's delightfully cold and there are no bugs. What a sight to see when I called the mamas and babies in from the back pasture for bedtime and watched them run up with the sun at their backs. I love it when the pasture water buckets are filled for tomorrow, the pastures are picked, and the horses are tucked in for the night with a slice of hay in cozy stalls. Ahhhhh.... and we start again at 5:00 AM. :D

Shemjo 05-25-2009 07:59 PM

Thanks for all the pictures Karla. I love how you change your avatar! Those little guys are sure growing fast!

RedGarnet222 05-26-2009 06:56 AM

Oh you are one hard workin' lady. Everything looks so nice, I bet you are happy to have that finished. It never ends does it? Especially with your animals to care for too. Very nice work and thanks for sharing it all. I love your kitty grabbing a cat nap on your jacket, what a cutie.
