I'm so sorry you need to find a new home for Boi, hopefully your sister will find it in her heart to take him so you can visit him. He'll keep her other dog company, I wish we were closer to you, I'd take him.

The Landlord decided on no pets since other people they rent too did not take care of apartment and house and carpet mess up i told him my apartment (Deplux) don't smell and my carpet is clean He told me he never had a proble with my place it is always nice and clean you can never tell i have a dog in here he said but if you do it to one you have to do it to all I tried to keep Boi I think it was mostly his Wife she just make the rules and take the rent in the office he goes to place to place.

Bevanger 06-13-2009 04:37 AM

Maybe you can pay a PET DEPOSIT. I did that here

I am going to mention that to him and the one that is not taking care of the place should get rid of the dogs He needs a lot of attention and that he gets my sister also give him a lot of attentions he loves her also he came a long way from when i first got her poor things I am trying not to cry he also helped me

Bevanger 06-13-2009 04:49 AM

Its like a damage deposit. I paid $100 for my dogs. That pays for any damage they do. No refund. I've had to do this for years

tlrnhi 06-13-2009 05:18 AM

One thing you can do, I've seen people do it is....
There docs will write what is like a prescription to let you have the dog. Sort of like a service dog. I'm not sure how it all works, but people get it done with just about any breed of dog. It doesn't have to be one that will fetch slippers, get the phone, open doors or what not....it's a dog that's more like a companion sort of thing.
Might be something worth checking into. Once it's said that the dog is more like a service dog, landlords CANNOT not rent to you. It's a violation of the Disability Act.

tlrnhi 06-13-2009 05:24 AM

Not sure how long it would take to get it done, but worth a try.

Yes, it does.
I met a lady in Hawaii that traveled all over with these 2 cute little dogs. They were her companions as she had severe depression....yes, she about told me her life story. lol Anyway....she showed me the paperwork that deemed her 2 little dogs as Service Dogs.
I know that landlords cannot refuse renting to a "handicapped" person with a service dog. My sister in law had a seeing eye dog...long story short as to why she doesn't have it anymore....The dog DID the job it was supposed to do, but she wanted to also be a puppy, so they had to send her back....was sad.
Anyway...SIL was told by this man who was renting a house, no pets....SIL said it wasn't a pet, it was Service Animal. Man said didn't matter....and he refused to rent to her even tho the state was paying part of the rent because of subsidiary whatever they call it. Well, after my SIL got done with the Powers That Be...the man no longer rents his "death traps" out,,,,State of Kansas said it was ILLEGAL for him to NOT rent to anyone with a service dog and it's pretty much US wide and is part of the Disability Act stuff...

And you can offer a pet deposit. If he grandfather's you he doesn't have to do it for anyone else. I'm so sorry you are having to loose your dog.

Jerrie 06-13-2009 06:43 AM

My sister mention to me about the Dr written something about me having Boi I am on disablity cause of my diabeties and Depression and Anxiety Boi really help with my Depression even through i still do be depress it is not that often now since i had him since Dec 08 thank you for the ideas i will check into it Monday.

tlrnhi 06-13-2009 06:57 AM

And I also agree with asking about giving a deposit and being grandfathered in. You had the dog before he started the rules. Tell him you'd give him $100 for deposit, and if you cannot give it to him all at once, tell him you'll break it up in payments over so many months. If he has any sort of compassion, which I think he does, he should go for it. But, you said it's his wife that "runs the show", so maybe bring it up with her?
I wish you luck Jerrie....hope you can get it worked out.

kwhite 06-13-2009 07:00 AM

My MIL ran the show too, but when asked she would say it is him that does. So you would bring things to him and he would take it to the judge for ruling in private.

Bevanger 06-13-2009 08:45 AM

oh yeah. my sister goes into depression easy and has a dog. believe it or not animals help us in more way then we think. she got a dr note stating to her landlord that its good for her to have this dog as it helps in her depression. good luck and please let us know what happens. if you were there a long time, you'd think he'd be more leniant. don't get rid of your dog til you check EVERYTHING out hun, good luck to you :D

Boi looks so much like my mom's, yodi! He passed away last year. She loved him dearly. I once babysat him for a week, while she and bf went to Texas for a family wedding.
He hurt his eye right before she left, and no one knew. That night, when I went to her house to check on him, he was sad and withdrawn and walking very slow. At first I thought he was depressed, but couldn't get over feeling it was more. Decided, that if he didn't seem different by morning, we would go see the vet. He had a scratched cornea from a squirrel chase, and he would lay just as still as could be on his back, in my lap, and let me doctor his eye, and then we would curl up in chair, and nap.
I went down there about five times a day, and stayed for hours. We became very close, and he was doing well, when mom got back. I did call her, and told her about all of it. She knew I would take good care of him.
anywhoo, I can only imagine how you feel. This seems rather sudden. Did your landlord sell out? I hope for your sake, and Boi's, that your sister can take him. These are some precious little dogs. :D

marty_mo 06-13-2009 05:23 PM

I had a client a few years back that was able to have a pet as a medical companion for her depression. It is definitely worth looking into ~ good luck. He is such a cutie.

Jerrie, I do hope that you are able to work thngs out with the landlord! Good suggestions here - saw a show on TV once - may have been on Cesar Milano - Dog Whisperer- about a lady and her "depression" helping dog - she could take him any where - grocery store, dining out, etc. Hope you are able to get the medical exemption.

Don't know what I would do with out my Brewster!

Mousie 06-14-2009 05:31 AM

Come to think of it...my last doctor's appt., there was a lady there, with her dog on a leash, and receptionist told me, that he was her, medical doggy!
Yodi was like that for my mom. She is legally blind, and suffers from depression. My brother built a beautiful coffin for him, and lined it with light blue satin. I said I wanted to see him, but when time came, just coudn't do it. He is in their back yard and they planted lilies for him.
Yorkies and silkies are very 'human', dogs!

bearisgray 06-14-2009 09:56 AM

Boi is a cute little dog.

Hope everything works out well for you.

It seems like there are always some people that muck things up for the rest of us.
