My daughter, who just went back to Washington state after visiting for a week, has found a kitten under her deck. She thinks the mother is a cat that was killed on the road at her house. She cannot keep it as she is allergic to cats but I told her that I would take it. I have been dithering about getting a pet and, as a friend said today, FATE took a hand and gave me one.

DD will be back here when the oldest is out of school for the summer on June 15th and she will bring the kitten. In the meantime she got food and kitten milk, says it's really skinny, and will make sure it is socialized (two kids ought to do it) as she cannot bring it in the house. She will take allergy meds to bring it but, she can't live with it and have it lingering in the house.

She says it is black, or dark brown, with bright blue eyes. :)

That's how it is with cats--they find you; seldom the other way around! I'm glad you'll be able to keep it for her. And it will be great company for you, too! Post pics when you get it! And get it fixed ASAP!

Oh, what a companion your new little kitten will be for you.
They are so full of wonder, excitement & playfulness. I
just know you will love it to pieces!! Congratulaions.

Oh, Pam how exciting - yes it seems that fate has forced your hand! What are you gonna call her? Or are you going to wait til you meet her?

I am up LATE! I was chatting and then sewing and before I knew it, it was midnight. I really have to go to bed as 6:30 comes very early in the morning!

Aaaww how exciting! I agree with Harmony, get it fixed as young as your vet will do it. I had my boys done at 5 1/2 months old, before the male hormones had chnace to kick in and they started spraying and getting agressive with each other. Important as they are indoor cats.

Oh I'm so jealous, kittenhood is the most fun (and testing) time! Say goodbye to your curtains, and post lots of pics!

sewjoyce 05-19-2009 05:08 AM

Lucky you! Can't wait to see pics!

Bevanger 05-19-2009 05:34 AM

Tippy 05-19-2009 06:25 AM

Sounds like a "chocolate" cat to me..... I have a few blue eyed ones outside.
but mine are long haired blondes.. or med hair...

kwhite 05-19-2009 06:31 AM

Good luck. We just saved one in October and boy that is a lot harder then I thought it would be. We wore leather gloves to feed him with the bottle. We all looked like "cutters" before it was over. He shredded our hands every chance he got. Now he is about 8 months old and he drives our 19 year old boy nuts.

DD says he/she is a nice cat, follows the kids around, so she's not "wild" yet.

She sent me a picture from her phone. She says that it looks fat because of all the fluffy fur but feels like skin and bones underneath.

sewjoyce 05-19-2009 08:50 AM

OMG -- Is it just too cute or what?????

Are you sure you don't want to take a road trip to go pick up the baby????

k3n 05-19-2009 08:57 AM

Aaawwwhhh cuuuuuuttttteeee! What a little fluff ball!

Looks like Little Blue Eyes has an angel looking after him who found the perfect home. Providence, perhaps?http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...angelic005.gif

pittsburgpam 05-19-2009 10:55 AM

Yep, he/she is so cute! Looks like there is going to be a lot of cat brushing in my future. I would love to have it now but to make a 13 hour drive each way... I can wait. Driving is not my favorite thing to do.

I have no idea what breed as it is a stray. Sure is fluffy though!

zyxquilts 05-19-2009 12:55 PM

Congratulations Pam! The kitten looks like a such a cutie :D

SaraSewing 05-19-2009 01:35 PM

Ahhhhh, what a cutie. Those fuzzy guys attract every bit of "stuff" that sticks to their fur, but are so wonderful to rub. I had my baby fixed when he was 2 months old. Bestfriends.org did it for me, they are local and are a huge no-kill rescue animal sancutary. We thought "he" was a girl, and so did their vet until they both opened her up for a spaying, then had to change it to a neuter. Got both done the same day and it didn't slow her down a bit. We can't tell "her" she was really a boy until she is older to understand such complex matters. In the meantime, she is pretty fuzzy and I love it. Naming those new babies is the hardest part!

Moonpi 05-19-2009 03:10 PM

What a cutie! When mine found me, she still wasn't weaned and her ears not fully raised. I had a challenge with litterbox training and socializing her because I was working all day. She is still not one to be picked up and cuddled, so the more used to cuddles yours gets now, the better!.

Shemjo 05-19-2009 03:24 PM

Oh how special! I love the feel of a kitten! They are so soft, but watch out for those sharp little hooks! They have to learn how and when to use them! I have 5 adults with at least 10 purrsonalities! Wouldn't trade a one, but won't replace ALL of them whtn that time comes. :? Way too many littler boxes! :?

Celeste 05-19-2009 07:14 PM

What a cute little ball of fluff!!

Being a veterinarian's daughter, I'm glad to hear about spay/neuter, but will you get it's shots too? Some of the things they get vaccinated for are real killers...

pittsburgpam 05-19-2009 07:53 PM

Yes, I will take it to a vet right off and make sure everything is ok, healthy, and gets what it needs.

littlehud 05-19-2009 08:25 PM

Lucky you. Have fun with your new baby. Oh, and send us pictures.

Hey Sara - kind of like a little 'hoover' in Pam's sewing room - she can 'pick up' all the loose threads and 'ears'! :D
