Been doing this for a long time. Was getting really frustrated over the amount of credit card apps. coming in so I started wadding the papers up in balls then put back in envelopes all fat and puffy !!!
Eventually they all stopped sending.

It's a great blog, though. I've been wanting to start my own consumer blog (thatone focuses on the fine print stuff), can't think of a good name for one, though. I came up with The Cantankerous Consumer, but it sends the wrong message. I don't want to be cantankerous, and bringing to light questionable business practices isn't cantankerous, it's more like fighting on the side of right.

Many people use "karma" when they mean "dharma." You wrote it "kharma" so it could have gone either way.

to me, dharma is the name of an old tv show and the name of a dye website.

One more way to get rid of telemarketers or any unwelcome callers is to block them via Selective Call Blocking. You can block up to 12 numbers at a time.

You may need to have Caller ID for this. You'll need the phone number with area code of the number you wish to block.

Press or dial *60. The automated system will tell you whether you currently have Selective Call Blocking activated or not. Then it will ask for the first phone number you want to block, and if it wasn't activated before, putting a number in will activate it.

It also has an option to put in the last number that called you, but I haven't been able to make this work.

Anyway, I've now blocked one telemarketer and one fundraiser that never quits.

Besides, other people might use it to block bill collectors. Ex-husbands or wives or boyfriends or girlfriends. Their parents. Their kids. Their next-door neighbor. Any pest who calls repeatedly. Up to 12 of them. (Say this in the GEICO gecko's accent.)

I got 3 calls in the space of about 2 hours from the same telemarketing company while I was trying to get my paperwork done. I had a BAD case of PMS that day and on the 3rd call I started screaming at them to "leave me alone" etc, etc, they hung up and I haven't heard from them since. It's been at least 3 months, they must have put a notation next to my number saying "crazy woman, do not ring" :wink:

on a personal note, i posted this because i viewed it as funny. i thought it would elicit humorous comments and it has. does anyone find this thread negative?

Oboy. Technically, disliking telemarketers is a negative thing. Thwarting someone's attempts to earn a living could be seen as negative.

I wasn't saying this was a bad thread, but since it could be construed as negative, was wondering what the boundaries of negative are. Sorry, this was not an attempt to get this thread (or you) in trouble. After all, I've enjoyed it and found it to be fun and informative.
