Gift wrapping idea needed
How in the world do I wrap an ax. Son is having a fireplace installed. He wants a wood splitting ax for xmas.

I've been know to send the recipient on a treasure hunt. Wrap a clue, which leads to a 2nd clue, which leads to a hidden present.

I would go to the hardware store and get a short length of concrete post form (it's basically a heavy duty cardboard tube). I'd wrap the ax with bubble wrap and wedge it in there and wrap the tube like a candy...tootsie roll style.
|
We've done treasure hunts also at Christmas. I'd use logs or wood as one or more of the clues. :)

Do you have a cardboard box large enough that the sides of the box would cover the ax. If so cut the cardboard to fit the ax(in a square or oblong shape)....you could piece the cardboard pieces together where they would be flat on the ax...then use tape (duct tape works good) to tape the 2 pieces (top & bottom) around the ax. Of course it Won't be real flat ......then just use gift wrap to finish it up. Hope that all makes sense.
I have used the above on several odd shaped gifts and the person getting the gift can't figure out what the gift is. Then if that doesn't work for you.....there is always the Big gift bags.....but I am Not sure they would work real good for an ax. Hope that helped. |
You can disguise the shape with a couple of cardboard circles aide on and wrapped to make it look like a tennis racket but once he lifts it, the game is up.

We do this quite often.....Wrap up a picture of what the gift is. Tiny little picture, tiny little box, maybe a rock or two inside, big surprise.

how about a nice polar fleece blanket for his truck and wrap it in there. I always have odd shaped gifts to wrap and never have a problem. lay it down and just put the wrap around it. simple.
