I'm traveling to Petaluma, CA the first week December. I'll have time to kill while DH is in classes. Any of you live around there who can give me some ideas of places to go while I'm on my own?
Thanks! Regina in KY |
Downtown is cvery cute!
We used to go through there a lot when we lived in Sacramento and went abalone diving on the north Sonoma coast. But me? I would be going over to Sonoma and Napa and hitting some wineries! eta: if DH has some free time the Napa Valley Wine Train is wonderful! |
That would be good--if I liked wine! We lived in Germany for 3 years, so many beautiful wines to pick from and cost was minimal--couldn't drink the stuff! DH likes it, though.

The town square in Sonoma is very charming.
You can take the road out to Bodega Bay (where the movie The Birds was filmed) then go up Highway 1 to Jenner where the Russian River dumps into the Pacific Ocean. Then take the River Road back into Santa Rosa area. It's a beautiful drive. |
ssgramma,
What is that on your cat's head? |
It's the cardboard from a tub of hair product.

Gina,
DH is full of ideas for you but do you want to spend the week out driving while he's in class? You can go on up Hwy 1 from Jenner to Fort Ross which is an old Russian Fort and then through The Sea Ranch (beautiful oceanfront development) and to Gualala (cute town) but it will take you all day and more! It would be a LONG day of driving without much time for stopping anywhere. Highway 1 is best described as 20 mph switchbacks! |
My son is stationed there...I have been there a few times. What kind of things do you like to do??

the weather is cool...but to go out to the cliffs by the ocean is really nice and not far away! Not swimming weather. The wineries are not close...45 mins away. There is a park that has smaller redwoods..they are huge...really neat. The town it self...not much going on. They do have several places to eat that are nice at night. Let me know you interests and I will tell you more.

I imagine I'll stick close to town while he's in class. We'll get out and do some sight-seeing when he's free. I'm looking for quilt shops, etc., that kind of thing I can enjoy on my own. Usually when we travel for business, I entertain myself while he's tied up.
I would love to see the ocean. The only time I've been in CA it was a layover in the LA airport on the way to Hawaii. Can't even call that visiting CA! I had thought a few weeks ago her cat had a UK hat on his head! You gotta admit, it's the right colors for it. He looks something like my king of the house cat, same blue color and white chest. |
I love to hit fabric stores and craft stores! That's usually what I do. And I want to see the race track in Sonoma!
