Investing in gold has done wonders for us. We are finally back to where we were before everything tanked.

amandasgramma 11-08-2010 10:12 AM

DebraK -- that's great!!!! We're almost there! Unfortunately, our house value went down again!!!! Course, our taxes went down -- all of $10.00 a month!!!! Value of home is 1/2 what it was worth when we bought it 5 yrs ago!

I am glad your investments are doing well. What I think of when I hear the price is going up is all the home robberies in the 70's when gold and silver went so high. My mom hid her sterling flatware and still hasn't found it! Of course, that has more to do with all the junk in her basement than anything! LOL.

3 years ago it was only $850. That is alot better than putting it in a CD in the bank. their rates around here are only 1% right now. Man, wish I had the money to invest back then.... That would have been AWESOME

Father-in-law had a gold mine in Colorado in the 1940s-1960s. He worked it on summer weekends and two weeks in the summer every year. Gold was $35 an ounce then. What would he think today? Died in 1971. It is unbelievable.

amandasgramma 11-08-2010 03:05 PM

My grandfather talked for years about buying gold. Kept telling us to buy gold. We got so tired of hearing him. He died in 1985. Sure wish I'd listened!!!

Tired of economy problem and news. Downsizing TV channels will be next,
due to idiotic programming, exhibitionism, dumb ads. More time to spend
in quilt room, reading, and Public/Classical music radio stations.
Good to be a "retiree" ... in some ways.
