My kids' toy room is adjacent to my sewing room. It's nice because I can look into the toy room, keep an eye on the kids, and still sew. I had one of the "non-flat-screen" TVs in there for them to watch DVDs on. It was sitting on top of a folding table. I didn't think it was the best thing to have 100+ lbs of old TV sitting on, so I looked and looked for a TV stand that would support its weight.
Do you know they don't sell that type of TV stand anymore? Blah! So, garage sale after garage sale, I finally found one! 6 hours away from my home, while on vacation, I found a really nice one for $5. YAY! I was so excited.
Today, I took on the project of moving all the furniture and rearranging everything to accommodate my growing children. Thing is, their toy room used to be my sewing room. I downsized by 50% when I gave them that room. I didn't realize how much of my stuff I had left in there. Now, I can't even walk through my sewing room. That's really bad because it is the main artery of our basement.
Urgh! The toy room looks great! But, now to finish the real chore. I need to get my sewing room operable again, and quick. I have to start and finish a new quilt within 2 weeks for a friend!
Now that I have vented, I will be drinking my glass of Daffodil Wine and getting back to work. My DH will be home at 8:30. I'm hoping to have it figured out by then.

Good Luck!!!

jdiane318 07-29-2011 01:33 PM

Too funny, and I empathize so much, I will have a glass of Dandelion wine to help you.

loves_2_quilt 07-29-2011 02:01 PM

 You can do it

sewmuchmore 07-29-2011 02:06 PM

Take one thing at a time and before you know it is done. So get to it ;-)

denise d 07-29-2011 02:33 PM

All the stuff you took out of the toy room needs to go in another corner of the basement.

Get your quilt started and completed and tackle the relocation of belongings when it is done!!!! :)

Patty Patches 07-29-2011 03:01 PM

I think I;ll join you with my glass of blackberry wine

Sewfine 07-29-2011 03:02 PM

dixiebelle162002 07-29-2011 03:15 PM

Sounds like a difficult task, but hang it there.

SuziC 07-29-2011 03:39 PM

I will toast you with a glass of wine! I am sure you will get it all done. Don't we all work better under pressure??LOL

blueangel 07-29-2011 03:45 PM

Good luck.

jrharry 07-29-2011 04:03 PM

Sounds like you have your work cut out. Good luck!

EdieClay 07-29-2011 04:15 PM

I'll also have a glass of wine.

MadQuilter 07-29-2011 04:33 PM

I can definitely sympathize with you. My sewing room stopped being functional and I decided it needed redoing. I mean change the whole configuration and I am in the process of emptying the entire room. You can do it! I can do it! We can do it! (Now I just have to get-to-gettin')

Good luck on yours.

butterflies5518 07-29-2011 04:59 PM

watterstide 07-30-2011 02:56 AM

my old heavy tv is sitting on a high oak dresser. it is out of the way of the grandkids..and i use the dresser to store my fabrics and do-dads! SIL hooked up the cable to it for me..so my sewing room is really "my room"! good luck with yours!

kaykwilts 07-30-2011 06:25 AM

I have a book in one of my bookcases called "One Thing Leads to Another"...all about just what you went through...that one project leads to, at least, one more....hang in there, enjoy your wine...and happy rearranging!!

And might I ask where you got Daffodil Wine from? did you make it? and if so, would you share the recipe for it - it sounds delectible....

trolleystation 07-30-2011 08:32 AM

Been there many times.......

MargeD 07-30-2011 09:33 AM

Good luck honey, it's sort of Murphy's Law gone bad, clean one space, destroy another until you keep cleaning and destroying, until there's nothing left to destroy. I'm still on the path of destruction. But good luck to you, I think I'm a lost cause.

lalaland 07-30-2011 10:37 AM

Funny how that goes, I lost my sewing room when my son grew out of the room he had so we needed to move him into the biggest room, which of course was my sewing room. I ended up spread out all over the house - guest room, family room, living room. Then he moved out and I moved back into that room in record time. Only thing is, it's lonely back there, I wish I were back in the family room!

I did that 2 1/2 yrs ago. redid the hardwood floors and that meant move everything out so I got rid of spare bedroom and turned it into sewingroom and my old sewing room is my office still have material in here because I have it in filing cabinets. Now my sewing room has gotten messed up because I have been using it but I will get it straighten up when I make up mind to get it done. When you can't find things then it is time to work on it

Then it is good! I have been to teh Amana Colonies and loved their wines; the one they didn't sell anymore the last time I was there (which was eons ago) was the White clover Wine - oh to die for; just delish.... but never bought enough of it - lol

I'm not much of a wine lush, but do enjoy a nice cold glass now and then. Thanks....

Annz 07-30-2011 06:10 PM

Good luck. You will do it.

mountain deb 07-31-2011 07:45 AM

I will have to look, but I know I have some kind of wine in the fridge. I will have a glass to.
