My dad had the smoldering type. It never went fullblown, but it made him weaker and really slowed him down. He died of something else, but several of his friends who worked in the same place died of it. Makes you wonder. I am glad your DH's friend has a good outlook on life. Daddy was a bit of a pessimist. Maybe he would have had more strength if he had had more happiness.

My mom died of MM back in the 60's. Not much they could do then, I hope the prognosis is better now. She was gone in 6 months. I was 9.
