Good price for a Brother PR600 Embroidery Machine?

Hello,

I have a neighbor selling his Brother PR600 Embroidery Machine.

I would like to know if $2,500 is a good price for it.

It has 15,000,000 approx stitch count and comes with all its hoops.

TIA.

Not sure. I found this completed listing for one on eBay which may give you something to compare at $3500:

Not sure how 1228 hours compare to 15,000,000 stitches.

There are others that have been listed on eBay for more money that have not sold. Here is a list of completed listings on eBay. Only the green numbers are items that actually sold; the black prices were asking price and the item did not sell for that much.

I am guessing that this machine could be approx. 10 years old as I have a Brother PR620, which is 8 years old and the model after the PR600. My machine (in Australia) retailed for $11,999.00 when I purchased mine and I am sure I wouldn't get much more than what your neighbour is asking if I were to sell or trade it. I have more hours and stitch count on my machine and I have had it regularly serviced every year at $300.00 a service. Check with your neighbour if her machine has been regularly serviced and request that it be serviced if it has not been so recently before you purchase it. I think her asking price is a fair price but maybe check with a Brother dealer to get a more accurate going price for this model machine.

I checked my machine and to be exact I have 1078 hours and the stitch count is 32,287,779. From this I am guessing that your neighbours machine does not have too many hours on it. The way to check is go to the book symbol at the top left hand corner of the machine and this will bring up on the first page the number of stitches total and stitches since last service which is, this trip.

Hope this has been some help. Good luck if you purchase the machine.

Yes, thank you Betty J. and Prism99.
It looks like it is a fair price.
I'm undecided because I have read in comments from another forum this machine is kind of slow in transferring the files from your PC.
I think I will ask the seller to let me see it working to find out if I like it or not.
Thanks again.

It is the original model but these machines are work horses. My friend has had hers since 2004. I had the Babylock version of the 6 needle since 2005 and sold it last year and bought a 10 needle. I sold it for $3,000. That didn't include the stand, no extras just the hoops that came with it. The machine you're looking at probably uses the old 3x3 square floppy disks to transfer designs from your computer to the machine. Or you can run a cable from the computer to the machine. The cable looks like a printer cable. I bought a 20 foot one at Fry's when I had my old machine. The machine you're looking at probably transfers fast enough but just not as fast as using a USB stick from computer to machine. The machine you're looking to buy had no USB port.

Hi rjwilder,
You are right, seller says this machine has no USB port.
I used to have a Brother Ult 2001 that used floppy disks to transfer the designs to the machine. The machine broke but I still have some of those floppy disks.
Thank you for your comments. It looks like the price is fair considering it is including the stand.

I finally decided against purchasing the 6 needle machine. For the same price I found a Baby Lock Ellisimo with 4 million stitch count and bought it.
Both machines have. 8x12 hoop.
I'm very happy with my decision.
