Ok, story 1. This particular morning in Florida was so nice and cool and pretty. I was sitting in my special area that hubby made for me right outside my studio. I layed on the rocking bench and was looking up into the Raintree and sky and I was thinking and feeling how wonderful life was and how wonderful to enjoy such calm and natural beauty. I was feeling pure joy.

The bees were buzzing all around the flowers and two squirrels came by to pick up the peanuts I left them and I was so sorry not to have the camera with me. One squirrel came real close, sitting on the other chair with it's hand curled into it's chest and looking at me...it was probably saying, look at that lazy human ahahahahahh.

I go out there every morning if the weather is nice and my mornings can start anywhere from 8am to noon lol.

Very nice. I think itis important for us all to have a place to relax..Lucky your in Florida, I am in Maine. The leaves are beautiful here, I got a great picture of a rainbow over the WhiteMnts. in NH. Enjoy your special place..

Story 2. Yesterday (Sunday) I was doing a Demo at my LQS for 5 hours. I was demostrating the latest thing in the fashion world. "Fabric Necklaces" I wasn't too thrilled with the idea but once I started to do them, I loved them. They are so neat, depending on the fabrics you use.

They are made out of one strip of fabric, cut on the bias, then knots are tied and styrofoam or wooden balls added. I used two different kinds of fabric and some one kind. These can be used instead of scarf and they are fabulous!

Here is how I did the ones I demoed. I cut a strip on the bias, 4 inches wide and 70 inches long. Sewed one end with a long stitch and sewed down the tube with a 1/4 inch seam, turned the tube with the one inch Fasturn at the sewed end and then took the thread out at that end. You need both ends open.

I then tied a knot in the middle, If using styrofoam balls, use your one inch fasturn tube. Put the ball at the end and slide it down close to the knot. Tie another knot and so on.. Be very gentle with tying the knots as you are working on the bias. Finish sliding the ball close to the knot with your fingers, tie the knot close to the ball, and work the knot with your fingers and a slight pull so as not to break the bias thread.

I mostly got it done with my fingers and the trick is to get the knot way close to the ball before tying.

The ends can be tied in the back or push one end into the other, fan it out, stick a piece of wonder under and press closed, you could put a trinket there on that spot.

A good way to do a strip so as not to waste time and do a lot of sewing. Cut a piece of fabric the same lenght as the width of the fabric. If the fabric is 45 inches wide, cut a piece 45 inch long. Tear off the selvage. Now when you fold one point of the fabric over to the other point, to get the bias, it is a perfect. Now cut along the fold and cut your strips from one piece of the fabric and cut more strips if you want the necklace longer. I like the strip at 90 inches too, it makes for a nice lenght.

I used to make those necklaces with lame ribbon and beads. I thought they were beautiful, but I had a flea market booth at the time and they didn't sell very well at all.... <<sigh>> Never could figure it out because I always got so many compliments when I'd wear one!

Story 3. The Ginger Ordeal lol. years ago, a friend gave me some ginger plants and hubby planted them here and there but would never let me harvest them. He said I would distroy the plant, Hello? hahaha

Well I never had the time to bother. A few years went by and they died in the winter and came back and I just forgot about him and his ginger nonsense as he doesn't realize that in order to harvest the ginger, you must dig up the entire plant lol.

Well now he has them in a big pot and I am still ingnoring until this morning. I was wandering around and spied the ginger and noticed that some of the plants were brown and that is the perfect time to harvest them. Well, I was just in the mood. I got me a strong stick and started rooting and digging and tearing out the ginger lol....

I came inside with my pj's full of ginger and announced to hubby, I have harvested the damn ginger, now like it or lump it and surprise, surprise, he was excited. I know he must have read about when to harvest it and didn't tell me ahahahahahha.....
