My 4 year old grandson goes to the hospital tomorrow to have his tonsils out. They are so bad that they are touching each other. He is excited about getting to eat ice cream, pudding and all that good stuff. What mom and dad failed to tell him that he won't feel like eating all that good stuff. Poor little guy, he is such a sweetheart and I will hate to see him suffer.

I had my tonsils out as an adult and that was suffering (smile). All the children around me were, indeed, eating ice cream and drinking 7-up and were hardly disturbed by having their tonsils out (all tonsils patients had to be in the same area child or adult). Believe me he will do very well and have very little pain and he will get lots of ice cream. Big hugs to you and your grandson.

He should do good. The 3rd day will be the bad day. G-daugher had her out at 4. She had fun, but the 3rd day she was irratible. Doctor said healing was causing a funny feeling in the throat.
No need to worry unless bleeding begins.

Hope he comes thru with shining stars and gets that ice cream too!

I also had mine out as an adult! Not fun!! It's much easier to have them removed before they become solid scar tissue and are difficult to remove!!!
Kids have amazing healing. He'll be great in no time!

I had mine out when I was 17 and suffered but my DD didn't and she was 5 when they took hers out.

I had my tonsils out at 4, and I still remember eating icecream and jelly, but I don't remember any pain. Time will tell.

I still have mine. Hope everything goes well.

Had mine out at 12 and they did the carterization (sp) as I started bleeding because of scar tissue. It was awful painful. I could not swallow and spent days in the hospital. It is much easier when you are younger. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for him.

I bet the little guy will sail right through it. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery. Little ones are just astonishing at times regarding pain.
