If you can remove it and place in a container large enough boiling water a biological washing powder for clothes soaked overnight will remove all grease.

Yes to the baking soda, dawn combo....I do not have an exhaust fan nor an automatic dishwasher...but I do this when I wash my dishes by hand. I have well water that is somewhat acidic due to the fact it filters through the forest above my home. So while it is the best tasting water, it does tend to corrode copper pipes and leaves a bit of a residue on dishes and what not...it will turn blond hair a bit green as well. So adding baking soda seems to even out the ph value of the water. My dishes do come out sparkling with just a bit of a soak and a swish and rinse. I also make the dawn/baking soda paste to do a quick clean of the oven, I hate the nasty smell of oven cleaner. It is also less harmful to my leach field system of sewage disposal. Baking soda is one of those "magical" things....you can use it to make a facial scrub, shampoo, dishwasher aid, oven cleaner, biscuits, acid reflux aid...seems there is nothing you cannot use it for.

I can tell you that baking soda as a facial scrub is so fantastic that
if ppl only believed how well it works it would put all those fancy facial cleaner companies out of business. I put a little mild shampoo on my face all over, then I have a shaker in my bathroom on the shelf by the shower...I put some in my hand and 'GENTLY' rub it into my skin. I have some mild psoriasis, (dry skin), and it not only exfoliates all of that, but it cleans out your pores better than 10 electric brushes! I've told my teenage dgd that she won't have to worry about bad skin bc Nana has something awesome. I love it. |
Grease cutter
Good tip on the Dawn Dish soap. Also Ammonia is good;stinky, but good.
Put the tilter-screen in the sink that you have the Dawn and Ammonia in, and let it sit for awhile. It might take 2-4 times if it is bad. I agree; a new filter is cheaper now than a few years ago. You wouldn't have to work on it that way!! Our Wal-Mart has filters of all sizes; and go to your manufacturer Web Page for the size, and call the store,/and/or see if you can get it by mail. awesome spray from the dollar store also skin so soft by avon,it is bath oil but works like a solvent.I've used it to take tar off carpet
