Greyhound story of day-

We live in central FL - cold wave has come thru - just took my 2 greys for a walk (48 degrees and dropping with 35 mph winds) - Monday is garbage & recycle day in our neighborhood.
Because of the wind, there are newspapers, milk cartons, etc blowing all over the place.

When we turned the corner on the walk- there was a single piece of newspaper blowing/dancing in the wind - Money eyed it, watched it as it spun in the wind and when it got close enough she bounced on it and riped it into little pieces.

It was so funny - but as I reread this - doesn't sound that funny - but I am sending it anyway

I think it is funny. Showed great restraint and control to wait for it to be close enough. Those grayhounds really love a chase.

I think it's funny. I have a beagle that barks at all the garbage cans by the road. I hate walking that day- you can't ignore a beagle's howl :)

Of course I was drawn to your post as I recently lost my grey to lymphoma. I was first thinking how miserable they were in the low temps, then I could totally visualize the whole chase and capture and destroy scene! And I can totally see the joy on money's face as he shredded his prize! Thanks for the memories! Enjoy your hounds and the holidays!

We are in the same area, and also have a grey! Ours is black, too. She was not a fan of the early morning potty break weather, lol.

It is funnier when you realize I am walking 2 greyhounds - 1 (Money) is out for adventure - the other (Kiwi) just wants to get the walk over with. Money walks in front bouncing on everything like Tigger from winnie The Pooh - the other shakes while walking behind her - You know the game Peek A Boo - If you can't see me I can't see you (Kiwi turns her head away and thinks no one can see her)
Little does she know....... 75# greyhounds can't hide that way

She must have been badly scared or abused before you got her. Maybe she needs some therapeutic touch? It works really well with animals, sometimes better than with humans. Some people call it Reiki, which is a difficulty for some Christians, so I avoid the term.

I think it is very funny as I can picture her planning her attack as she watched the paper floating closer. Shaddy, our mixed breed (Shepherd and Chow) will disect a stuffed animal and then pounce on the ears, legs, tails, whatever as if they were living things. He has an absolutely wonderful time and then all I have to do is go around and pick up the pieces, ascertain if they can be reattached to the toy (surgery) or discarded. Dogs are truly one of God's greatest gifts to us.
