Growing out your hair takes time. The trick is not getting anxious.
To keep the yellow out try Jhirmack shampoo for gray or blond hair, if you can't find Jhirmack other companies make shampoo for grey or blond hair. Another tip is use a little dab of Alberto VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing for gray, white, sliver blond hair. This will give your hair a sparkle , very small amount. People are always commenting on the color and shine of my hair and these are my secrets, not any more now that I have shared them with all of you.lol The quilt tips are very much appreciated for a newbe quilter. I started after Christmas last year and love this board.

Most people do not remember the old wives tale of brushing 100 strokes morning and night..but it does work!

While in beauty college I did a study on the "Czar of long hair"..My own hair while in school was down to my waist and virgin blond....what fun I had...

anyway,..George Michael fell in love with his mother's hair..it was on the ground long...and he wrote many a books and study for years on how a person grows and cares for such long hair...
the brushing helps stimulate the blood flow to the scalp...
another thing was to trim the slightest bit, even 1/8" off the ends every 6-8 weeks!
another was less frequent shampooing...of course with today's modern products that might not work too well for most!
Here is a great article from the Czar!

Let my hair "grow out" over 10 years ago. Fortunately it had multi layers of white, grey and black. I keep it short so haircuts were every 5 weeks. Got tired of 'medium ash blond out of the bottle' - it never really covered the grey. Glad I did it.

I love these tips - trying to keep them in mind when I decide to let my grey shine out. (I color it now)

If you want some great tips, you can look on the Long Hair Community boards. They have tips for all lengths & types of hair

welcome. my hair is white for the most part and i just cut it a bit myself. I was growing it longer but it got to be a bit difficult. sigh. I'll never get it long.
when growing out color years ago, i went and had it bleached as light as they could get it. worked fine.

I just wished I had a way to keep my hair. Heard about biotin and some special shampoos but don't seem to work.

I am having massive hair loss due to a poor diet since my lapband surgery 16 months ago..

Biotin does work but you need about 5,000mg a day!
It also works best if you are using Folic acid and zinc as well!
I do use an organic biotin shampoo I found at Amazon.com and it has really helped....

I also stopped cutting layers in my hair and went one length...it is fuller and thicker looking now for sure!

My Dr. also said lack of protein will cause it to fall out for sure! Though so could hormone imbalance and thyroid issues!

Blinky 01-09-2011 10:36 AM

Thanks Jacquie! I tried the 1000 mg of biotin for just a couple of days but couldn't tolerate it. I think there is a 300 mg I might try. My immune system is kin of funky with vitamins and herbs. I started using head and shoulders shampoo last week thinning it might make my hair root healthier ;-) The biotin shampoo might be a way to go. Will check that out. I am familiar with the Amazon site. I do have thyroid and hormone issues going on too so know that doesn't help my problem any. It is gradually falling out....could be because I am getting older too....late 50's. Thanks again for the info!

Thank you Ditty! I checked on the Internet and found out Nexus has a biotin shampoo and vitamin b complex vitamin for hair. Going to give the vitamins a try because it doesn't have such high potency biotin in it!
