He's just not the kind of guy that knows how to come up with good gifts. However, on my birthday this week, he surprised me with a Kindle.

I haven't ordered a book yet, but I am looking forward to using this wonderful bit of technology.

Having a bit of a Southern accent, I told a friend about the gift on the phone. She asked, "Does it smell good?" Ha! Ha!

Aw, what a nice gift!

You are going to love it! I have one that my husband bought me for Christmas last year and I really use it a lot. Amazon has a lot of free books available. Enjoy your present :)

I have been eyeing the "Nook". I was surprised to find so many quilting magazines available on the nook. But, if you like the pattern, can you download it, print it or somehow save it to another computer? I have to do some research on that aspect. Enjoy it.

I got a Kindle last year for Christmas and absolutely LOVE it. If you use the search feature on it and type in "Public Domain" it will knock your socks off on what is available. Enjoy it!

You will love your Kindle I just got mine and I love it. If you go to Amazon.com and look you will find they have a lot of free book as well as some that are as low as .99. I made a cover for mine and keep it in my purse when I go some where I am going to have to wait and always have it to read. You have a great husband.

Well, he certainly outdid himself. He also bought a leather Cole Haan cover for the Kindle. I still can't believe it.

I'm still giggling about the smell good part of your post.

Happy Birthday, sounds like you have a great guy. I've dropped a few hints for a Kindle or Evo phone.

Happy Birthday!!

We bought my youngest DD a Kindle for Christmas. (Proud Mom bragging here) She's a reader and when I say that I mean that girl can read! She will devour books. Read Brisinger in 2 weeks! Goes to the library here, gets maybe 4-5 books and will read them all in 2 days. At school they have AR test and every single time she get's 100%! So we thought it was fitting for her..btw she's 11.

I hope the Kindle can keep up with her!.

What a nice present ... you have to tell us how you like it after a couple of books!

quiltingmimipj 11-20-2010 06:11 AM

Yesterday I downloaded one of the public domain books -- Pride and Prejudice -- just to make sure I understood how to do it. However, I haven't had time to sit down and read yet.
