Yesterday my 2o year old grandson had another serious car wreck. He is ok but the car is totaled. The accident was due to heavy rain and he went into the ditch hitting a cement culvert. He came away with only a small mark on his neck made by the air bag pushing a ring on a chain he wore into his neck.
The reason this is even more upsettting than normal is because a year ago April he was in a head on collision going 65 and by the grace of God he survived. But he had numerous serious injuries. Cracked pelvis/broken jaw/ several bones in face broken/both ankles broken in 2 or 3 places/ upper thigh bone broke/ spleen and liver nicked/ he had to have a tracheotomy so they could work on his face. He was in the hopital for 2 months and was in a wheelchair and then crutches with his face wired for several months. So this is one more episode in his life that we (and I'm sure Cody as well) could have done without!!

I talked to him last night and he is bummed that he is without a car but they have his fiancee's so he can get to work. I am just so relieved that he is alright this time!

Thanks for listening. This is on my mind and I needed to vent a little.

Glad Cody did not get hurt any worse this time. Cars can be replaced ~ ~ percious lives cannot.

Thanks everyone. He is my oldest grandson and he is special to me. He came into the family by marriage at the age of 8. I had to work really hard to get him to understand I am his grandma! We have a strong bond now and I used to keep the kids alot on weekends as they grew up so we spent a lot of time together but i don't get to see him much now. He is busy with a fiancee and two little ones (by soon to be marrriage) and he works with his(step -adopted) dad(my son) as an electrician. They travel over several states on jobs.

But I am very proud of him and how he has turned out! He is a good family man and a really decent hard working person with a kind heart.

Can you tell I love him? I just hope this is the last car wreck!!!!!

WOW! Praying that all will be well and there are no problems that surface later. Hope he didn't have his cruise control on when he was driving in the rain. Hydroplaning happens! Sorry for the scare!

In the head on crash he had a coworker in the truck with him. Bob had a cracked spine but Cody got the worst of it. That one it was a real miracle they survived. I am glad this one wasn't as serious. But a totaled car is still serious enough!

It's always something. Hope he stays okay for a long long while.

I'm glad he's all right. I would seriously think of him getting a really safe car. one with side airbags and all. I have a Honda Accord. It's just something to think about.

Glad he's okay and what a handsome young man he is and the kids plus soon to be wife make a good looking family.

Well they were planning a wedding in August this year last I heard. His sister Nicci(also a Niccole) is also engaged and pregnant. They were planning a May wedding this year and then she found out she was pregnant. Now she wants to wait till after the baby is born and she is done with college. She is taking courses for hair dressing and massage and stuff and she and her mom are going to open a shop in my daughter and soninlaws chiropractic clinic. So I think they are thinking probably Oct. The baby is due the first part of Oct. I think all the wedding preparations got too much for her to deal with right now.

My family has expanded rapidly lately!!

I know how you feel my daughter got a car in June of 08 in 10 days she had a wreck total car but she had cuts , then we cot another car in aug 08 and in Nov08 had another wreck finally got that car fixed then insurance went up to almost 400.00 a month because of the two wreck and she is 19 she will be 20 Aug 2. ok now April this year she had another wreck total car and she only had liability because full covarage was too high it was raining and on the phone with me and she ran into the back of a van in which they did not have any blinking light on when turning. Through the Grace of goe she only had knot on head and jamed her right shoulder and hurt knee. the other car did not look like it was hit but my daughter's car was total. she do not have another car yet het insurance well really go up so 3 wrecks in 12 months. This 3rd wreck she was not as upset loosing her car as she was the other times and she was getting another car. I give God all the Glory she is alright and Thank the Lord Cody is ok.

My goodness ladies.....Sure glad everone is okay.....And please don't take this wrong but ....Lord do you suppose these kids are to young to be driving...not enough exprience....to many distractions.....just what is going on with so many accidents.....youth....a vehicle is like a gun...it can not only take their life but the life of another person ....either in their car or in the other car.....

Believe me I feel the pain...my son wrecked his car also 8 days after getting it ....do to lack of knowledge....I am so glad all concerned are okay....seems everyone is in such a hurry and distracted

I hope and pray they will never have another accident as with my son......hope they learn to pay attention....drive slower....or what ever it takes to be safe...:-)

I rolled a car when I was 17 due to icy roads and the backwash of a semi so I remember how scary it was and it wasn't my fault. I didn't lose my license but it was a possibility! The car left the road and entered a deep deep ditch spun the car front to back and rolled it landing upside down and crushed the rear up to the back of the front seat. All that was left was the front seat! My bff was with me and another girl had not been able to go. Had she been with us she would have been dead.
We walked away with nothing but Julie got a small bump on her head.
My dad teased me til he died about my convertible renault! It spent the rest of it's days in a junk yard being used as a bed for the goats!

When Cody had his first accident he in Illinois driving home from a job site to Winfield Iowa It was 9pm at night and this elderly couple were driving on the wrong side of a divided highway. They met head on at the top of a hill. Cody was driving a heavy duty Ford 350 work truck and if it hadn't been for that the boys would have been dead. They had conduit pipe in the back of the truck and it smashed through the back window and hit the headrest behind Cody's head. There wasn't much left of the truck!! My son called me at 3 Am and said Cody's been in an accident but he's alright!
He wasn't going to die but he was pretty messed up!!!! Because of the facial bones broken and the broken jaw he could only write to communicate. He went through several surgeries and several months of therapy to walk again. He works for his dad in Nathan's company Woodsmall Electric so his job was not a problem thank the Lord! He will always have a metal piece in his jaw where they put it back together but he is good as new now!

BTW Nanci is a very pretty girl!!

I'm glad Cody is ok, Rhonda. Sorry you had a bad scare. I get scared when hubby goes on his motorcycle, bc he was cut off, and it was raining. Over a period of months after that, he became totally disabled due to breathing problems. We have to show our love for our families each and every day. We can never be sure, and that is scary.

Thank you we think Cody is a really sweet guy but I remember when he deliberately provoked his brother and was pretty hard on him! And I remember when he shirked his chores and his sister had to do them!!
He was 10 when Jake was born and Cody and Nicci almost raised him because Mom and Dad were working so much and it fell to them to take care of him alot.
So I'm pretty proud of him!

That is really scary. He is leading a charmed life. God is watching over him.
