When my daughter was little, she had a mass of curly ringlets. I just kind of let it go wild, because it was cute and grew slowly. Now that she's a little older (she's five) and her hair has thickened, it's very wavy on top with ringlets around her face and at the nape of her neck.

I cut layers into her chin length hair, hoping it would bring the ringlets back to the top, but her shirley temple days are gone, lol. My question is, does anyone use any kind of styling product in their DD's hair? I never have before. She looks cute however her hair is, I was just wondering. FYI, I have stick straight hair, so this curly thing has always baffled me a bit.

Hi and welcome :-)
I have naturally curly hair and my daughter has some curls too :-) Her hair is down past her butt now lol she does not always like me brushing it but...we do what we must. I have asked her if she wants me to cut it and the answer I get is no so I tell her then style it we must. I use a leave in conditioner called FastFood. It is great and doesn't leave buildup or any greasy feel either.
Your avatar picture is interesting-is it a quilt of Italy?

It's a quilt top, anyway. It is a map of Italy. Started as a birthday present for my husband (he's of Italian descent), then a Christmas present, then pushed to anniversary, then Valentines etc. etc. etc. lol. Part of my reason for joining this board is to get inspired to learn how to quilt.

I loved this idea and used it for Italy:

My nearly 20yo dd has thick, curly hair. Over the years she must have tried everything, including all the Curly Girl products and I don't know what all. The best thing for her has been to get a deep conditioning treatment at the hair salon. She found a young woman near her age at Ulta who understands exactly what she needs. I think it is a Redken deep conditioner that gets put in her hair. The treatment changes her hair from wiry curls to soft curls, and the feel of her hair goes from rough to soft. If I am remembering correctly, cost for a trim and conditioner is about $50, but the conditioner lasts for 3 months. Dd also uses a good shampoo and conditioner as a follow-up.

You might want to bring your dd in to Ulta and just ask one of the hair stylists there what they would recommend (and how much it would cost!).

Hello and welcome. I can't help at all. Everyone at my house had straight hair.

My roommate back when had very curly hair and she used to put it up on big orange juice cans instead of hair curlers to try to straighten it! Not something I would recommend for your daughter by the way!
