Many stores carry them around Valentine's Day so I stock up on them then. They are often available in stores that carry bulk candy. I still have some from last February that lots of "zip" in them, so much so that I have to suck on them at short intervals.

Can use possibly use other candies? Cinnamon disks, Hot Tamales? Perhaps you can get Cinnamon Essential Oil (the edible kind) or cinnamon extract. Just a thought. Now I'll have to look around my stores to see if Red Hots are available.
