So have to wear hats outside cuz I've had skin cancer on my face removed two times.

Have 3 great straw hats with huge brims that cover my whole face...YEAH...but

the hats are too big. Want the band to sit ABOVE my ears...not OVER them.

Does anyone know what I should used for an insert that I could glue inside? All I can think of is quilt batting but maybe there is another method someone can share with me.

Thanks you guys!

how about a soft headband, or piece of tee shirt material. or ribbon you could glue it in and find a bowl or wrapped towel as big as the hat and push it against the hat inside so the headband won't pull away , until it is dries. or use hot glue

I never have figured out why you can buy men's hats in sizes but women's hats are all "fits one size."

you got that one right, guess we're still supposed to just 'fit in' and be happy with it. LOL

I too have a small head. Don't laugh, but I have found that the kids sizes fit just right. Yeah, it takes a while to find the perfect kids hat that doesn't look "kid like" but when you do, it fits.

You could sew a short piece of elastic to take up the extra circumference. How long the elastic is will depend on how much too big the hat is. Use a wider elastic like the size of the hatband. I hope this makes sense...it does work. :D

Headband just may work. Think enough. I'll have to run to WM tomorrow and see what I can find. Good idea.

I bought a child's pink cowgirl hat several years ago for my daughter (at a regular western wear store) and there was a piece of elastic sewn around the inside of the brim. It had been stretched a little and only sewn on one side. The unsewn side of the elastic was in about an inch all the way around so that it would fit several size heads. Maybe you could try doing that.
