Have a 1st Generation Ipod Nano? It's on a recall.
 

I just bought myself and my mom used 1st generation Ipod Nanos. I found out by accident that this model is the subject of a recall announced earlier this month. If you have one (it is either white or black with a metal back), you should check to see if your model is one of the recall models. Very likely, you would receive a refurbished model of the same type you send in and not (as I would hope) a newer Ipod. I'm just happy to get this with a new battery since I here battery changing on a Nano is a little complicated (I have a 4th generation Nano too). The recall only affects 1st generation models and the serial number tells them if yours is one with the bad battery.

Update: It turns out that Apple is now sending out 6th generation (the very latest) Ipods as the replacement for the 1st gen Nanos that were recalled!

I sent my 2 GB first generation Nano back to Apple and about 5 weeks later they sent me a brand new 8 GB Nano. Nice! My serial number was part of the group that was recalled.
