Have most of the quilt shops in this state closed?

I'm going to be visiting Connecticut soon and someone told me most of the quilt shops there have closed over the past two years...can this be true? If so it is very sad.

Hope not, all of the quilt shops in Staten Island NY closed and yup its sad and makes quilting an online thing which is not as fun.

Two of the shops that I love, and are still open, are Sew Inspired in Simsbury and Quilting by the Yard in Vernon. If you are in those areas stop by, you will not be disappointed.

Try this link. I don't know if its been updated, or if its out of date, but its worth a try. Look at the ads around the map and try contacting those shops.

I just spent 3 days traveling from NY to Maine and only found 2 shops :( One was only a Sewing Store teaching people how to sew and selling machines. The other was a quilt shop but small and short in the inventory dept. Looks like the online quilting has taken over.

The map is a little outdated, goes back to 2007. The shop on Cape Cod is closed as are a few of the others, and there are many other shops that are not listed. We really do have some great shops in the Northeast, maybe someone could put an updated list out on the Internet.
