Been there done that! Time to take a break and clear your mind. Be safe:)

cjomomma 01-14-2011 07:44 PM

I have been known to do that. Sometimes when I drive from my folks house to my home (across town) I won't remember the drive at all. That's not good because it's a very busy drive.

Please be careful! Your life may depend on it!

littlehud 01-14-2011 07:46 PM

I have done that. It's a little scary.

NancyG 01-14-2011 07:51 PM

Yes, that has happened to me before. Sometimes I leave work and 15 minutes later I'm home, and wonder what happened in between. I think it just happens when there is a lot on your mind.

Yes I have! I went on a day trip with a Female friend ended up driving Way past my exit on the freeway! Then had to find our way home through a strange area! Yes very scary but I think it was cause we were yakking to much!!

In the first Psychology Class I took, the Instructor explained how our minds go on "automatic pilot", esp when we are familiar with the route we're taking, or when our minds are on overload. Slow down if you're stressed.

Quite often. My son (43) says that the computer chip in my mind that tells me where I am is in good order.

The computer chip in my mind that tells me where I'm going is in
good order.

The computer chip that tells me how to get there from here has been electrically disarranged and probably can never be fixed.

yes & that's when I know my angel is watching over me!

BETTY62 01-14-2011 08:18 PM

It's nice to know that I'm not alone. And yes, it is scarey and unsafe.

scowlkat 01-14-2011 08:21 PM

Yes, happens to me occasionally and it scares me to death!

once I went thru a town going to fast and got pulled up by the police' when he said I had gone thru bindoon to fast I thought to myself did I go thru bindoon. I had my son in the back of the car in agony rushing him to a Dr 100 miles away so the policeman let me of with a caution.
that was many years ago.
I still happens now and then.

That used to happen to me when I was younger. I had to drive through a lot of woods, and sometimes it was like I was just waking up and I didn't know where I was or where I was headed. That doesn't happen now. At least, not that I know of ;-)

leatheflea 01-15-2011 04:00 AM

I do that all the time, call it going into auto pilot. Well my auto pilot failed this past fall. I ran a red light in a very busy intersection, horns blaring and tires screeching I came back to reality, pulled over my truck and sat and tried to remember how I got were I was. No one was hurt, and no car crashes thank goodness. I avoid that stretch of road now.

brushandthimble 01-15-2011 05:21 AM

Yes it happens to me, all of a sudden I realise where I am and don't remember how I got there, don't remember going through the small town.
Or all of a sudden its like where am I? Did I pass this or this?
scary
can't blame it on yaking, I am alone in the car

nativetexan 01-15-2011 08:55 AM

I have started making a list in order of accessibility before I leave the house, and checking it off as I go...unless I lose the list

Ditter43 01-16-2011 08:07 AM

That is scarey! I've done it in the past. I think we all do it at times and I wonder how many accidents are caused by "unconsious" drivers! :?
