I think that is about as accurate as quilts for the Underground Railroad In other words, NOT

Nice story, but could it be a "Quilter's Urban Legend"? LOL

I think you would need to copyright and/or get a trademark! Someone may have told this woman that a family had a lock on a quilt design on a barn, but they are whistling Dixie in the graveyard. froggyintexas

any one can use any quilt design for their barn quilt. I am going to make one for our next house using the Indiana block & the California block because I am from ind. & my hubby is from cal.

If she were in England, I might buy that idea since there you can register a family crest, but with a quilt block? I don't think so. I believe you may have been listening to what old timers call a " bu__sh_t" story. Sorry for my lack of faith.

Did I ever tell you that in my previous life I was Catherine the Great? No? Good! It is not true either...lol!

I just did a Google search and I was surprised that there are American Family crests. I didn't have time to read but most appear to have been brought over from the family's home country.

never hear of that

What difference does it make? Some people like to talk -even if they don't know what they're talking about. There's nothing we can do to change that, so the best tactic is to listen and nod, them move on.

Then, too, someone may have told her that and she believed it. So to her, it is true.
