Have you used Insul Bright
If so, anyone find it makes them cough as if perhaps it has fiberglass in it?
I have used it but have nevr noticed that.
I just bought some, but haven't used it yet. I did let it tumble for about 1/2 hour in the dryer to get the 'dust' out.
Try washing it on gentle cycle, and tumbling it dry. I have to wash all my fabrics because I am allergic to whatever the heck they put on the fabric to keep bugs away. |
i use it and no problem!!!!
I don't think Insul-brite has fiberglass in its materials, but if you are concerned you could always call the manufacturer to see if is made with anything that could be considered an allergen.
I've also used it without any problems, and I'm pretty sensitive to dusty stuff.
I might be crazy but I think it may be a real problem for me. Guess I should have washed it but did not know you could just throw it in the washer and do that. I had never used it before. I could not find that it has anything other than polyester fibers and some sort of metallic stuff in the middle and I know I should not be allergic to any of that stuff. I have been coughing for hours and I am not sick. Do you know if anyone other than Warm and Natural manufactures it or something like it? I got it as Hancock's but never really checked on the labels.
It doesn't have fiberglass in it. It contains polyester fibers, a non-woven substrate, and a metalized coating. It should be hypoallergenic.
Here's their website explaining that: http://www.warmcompany.com/ibpage.html Maybe it was stored in a dusty environment and picked up a bunch of dust or lint? |
How about wearing one of those cloth dust masks for when painting? Just a suggestions. I have been using the product that was in a package that I bought from JAF online. I have had no problems.
I use this all the time, with no problems, but mine was also packaged. I think I got mine from Nancy's Notions this time around.
I don't like the feel of InsulBrite and I don't like to cut it. I quit using it. I use batting and the heat resistant silver fabric.
I use it a lot for pot holders, insulated bags and such. I've never had a problem. I never really gave any thought to what the fiber content is however.
I decided to do the mask---works well!
I have used it several times, and have never had a problem.
