Does anyone have a young 4 year old handy, and a tape measure? I'm sewing a nightgown for my granddaughter, who is 700 miles away. I just realized that the pattern does not call for any buttons or other fasteners at the neck edge. I'm hoping someone could do me a favor and measure a child's head. I'd like to make sure this is going to fit over her head.

Sewing this nightgown has been a comedy of errors that I won't bore you with. Sometimes I'm amazed that I have been sewing for 50 years!

Thanks.

Can you call the Mother and ask her to measure the head? Some kids have different sizes. My GS has a big head , so we can't buy the hooded sweatshirts for him.

1 5/8 in''. is quite a difference for 1 year. You might want to err on the large side to be sure to have enough room. Good luck with your project! :)

I roughly measured the neck opening, and got 20". I think my granddaughter has a smallish head. So I should be OK.

Thanks.
