I have a head cold that seems to have settled in the left side of my head and face. My left eye is watery and it hurts. My left ear hurts and I have a left sided headache. I think it's the pressure that is causing the discomfort. My Dr. said to try MUCINEX D Extra Strength before taking a prescription. It works! I can tell a big difference. So if you can take OTC meds, this one seems to be a pretty good one.

The box says Maximum Strength not Extra Strength.

That's good to know. My DH just told me he is getting a cold...aarrgggg....I'd rather get one then him!!! I have had a runny nose for weeks now. I am beginning to think it is the fabric lint!! Hope you feel better... :-D

I can't have anything with penicillin in it, but i find the natural herbal remedy. breath easy is really good for clearing the sinuses. I suffer with cronic sinsitus some times and that is the only thing I can use, just a couple of drops on you collar and you breath it in all day, same with your nighty a couple of drops and you sleep all night.

I am glad to know this. I feel like I am coming down with something. Runny nose, chills and achy. Yuk.

I am just getting over a cold now that I have had 3 weeks. As usual, my asthma flared up but this time I also got a sinus infection. The left side of my face under my cheek was so sore along with under my eyes. I have not had a sinus infection in ages. I forgot how much it hurts.

How you all get better soon, I just over a cold.

Quilter7x 11-08-2010 06:17 PM

Sinus infections do hurt your face and you feel miserable.

Mucinex does work really good. The one thing the doctor said is that even if you think you're drinking enough water - drink more. So any time I take that, I drink a ton and it helps so much.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

I've had the same stuff and my doc recommended that also. Do be aware though if you have high blood pressure, do not take the one with the DM in it. It can cause havoc with your blood pressure. :(

That is the only thing that works for me when I have a cold.

hannajo 11-08-2010 07:08 PM

Yes, I swear by Mucinex the minute I think I'm getting a cold. This is kind of gross, but a nurse practitioner explained to me recently that when you have a cold, the mucus is food for the cold. So the more mucus you have hanging around, the worse your cold will get. If I take it for too long, I will get a slight nose-bleed and immediately stop taking it.

BellaBoo, that sounds like a great doctor who will try to use OTC first instead of just whipping out his prescription pad right away. I hope you and everyone else feel better.

Now this is information I know I will use!

canmitch1971 11-08-2010 07:57 PM

Can you get Mucinex in Canada?

CarrieAnne 11-08-2010 08:43 PM

Get well soon!

Juliebelle 11-09-2010 04:51 AM

I have used that before and it really does work.
