Hello, Hello
5 Attachment(s)
I haven't been around and thought I would just pop in to say hi and share some things I have been doing. I will return to quilting next year but in the meantime I will be enjoying some of the other crafts that I do and of course we are clearing out old stuff going through boxes and drawers and cupboards and you all know how that is and how time consuming it is and it has to be done. So in-between all that, I knit and paint and right now the knitting bug has struck.
I believe I had mentioned the 15th century stocking, of Eleanora De Toledo that I have been researching. It took me one year to read up on it and gather information and pattern instruction and editing as I am knitting. I finally finished one stocking and it sure was a challenge and I made lots of mistakes but you can't see them , but I have learned so much about knitting as I still consider myself a new-comer. Here are a few pics modeled on my leg as you can't really see the design other wise lol...... |
Glad to hear you are doing well! Great Job!!!!!!
That's very pretty. It looks to be thigh-high, right? I'm hoping to make some knee sock this winter.
The second of a pair is always hard for me but I would not attempt that one. Are you going to hang that one up for Christmas?:D

Wow, those are amazing. I have a friend who knits all her own socks and that amazes me, I tried knitting once, it was so sad......
Lovely, I knit but it takes me forever to get any thing done. You did a beautiful job.
Beautiful knitting. I would wear it until I got the other one done.
It looks great but why are you knitting socks like that in Florida ? I thought maybe you lived in the Northwoods.
Beautiful job...................you are certainly not a new comer except to that pattern maybe. I love to knit....just finished a Christmas stocking for our grand nephew. Santa popping out of the chimney complete with angora beard:D It is the 35th one that I've made..........all for family.

I'm amazed if you really are new at knitting! I've been knitting a long time and would not be able to face such a challenging project. They look great!
I'd like to knit those socks too-could you put the pattern used on your site?-or send to my email [email protected] please.
Cool! Love a pair live in cooolllddd country! Great job!!!!!!

LOl, I read all the comments and I will try to answer lol. I know I live in Florida and I love to wear socks. These stocking that are thigh high are not hot. They are silk and wool out of the fingering yarn which is as good as lace really. they will keep you warm in winter and keep cool in the summer. I do knit socks all the time to wear with my jeans and tennis shoes. The knitted ones feel so good and I bet you would love them Jan.
These stockings were a huge challenge to me and I just had to do them lol. I have already started the other one and have finished quite a few rows already and it's going very well, all my edits are working. As soon as I finish, I will do a proper pattern and those who knit and would like to try it, I will do a pdf for them. |
Ok, here are the links I used and edited the stocking to please me. The costume dabbler has the most perfect pattern.
