Hello, hello

I just dropped in to say hi. I know I have been gone for months as the painting bug struck me and I am still in that mode lol. I am just going to read a bit tho. My sister is here visiting me from England and her month will be up this coming Wednesday, I will be sad to see her go.

I have a couple little projects in my mind that I will post when I get them done in-between.

Welcome back...Hope you had a wonderful visit with your sister.

I had one of my sister (Judy) visit for a week and it was so nice. The second sister lives nearby so we had some wonderful sistertime. While here, Judy and I made new draperies for her living room. In my former life I was self-employed making window treatments, etc for my customers. It was a skill I had not used for several years and it was much fun doing something different for a change. Sisters are invaluable.

Thank you ladies, it's so good to hear all your voices. I do miss posting and sewing. I have so much to catch up on now that my sis has left. I spent every minute with her so things got put on the back shelf. I hope to get going soon tho. I do intend to sew a few little things and I want to still work on the that difficult Clam Shell project. That was the last project that I worked on. I am thinking of drafting something new with that pattern and will post when I have it.

In the meantime I will come back and read and post as I do miss this community.

Suz you are so right, this is the sister (Louisa) that taught me to knit. We didn't knit this time, instead I made her lots of beaded jewelry for her and my nieces and grandnieces lol. I have a generation in England lol. I took her shopping to the outlets she loved that. ..and then we just cooked and ate!!!!!

Hi, I'm back for a visit. I thought I would share what I have been doing. Well, I told you I was in a painting fit right? lol and still am. Get you tea or coffee, story time and pics.

Painting the Angel of Death lol

My neighbor was moving and she had this 4 ft. grey Angle in her back yard. I told her to just throw her in my yard if she decided to not take her. She promptly did so after her children told her they were scared of it lol.

I pulled out many colors of reds, purple, blues, yellows greens, whites.I just started painting her, I had no idea what I was doing, I was just doing it. I will post some pic of the stages and you will see how she changed as I changed my mind lol. She is made out of some kind of heavy stuff. It's not cement or chalk or ceramic but seems like some heavy kind of resin or whatever. She is quite rough, not smooth at all but she turned out ok after all. Here are some before and after and then now.

I've missed you. I always enjoy looking at your quilting projects. I think I referred someone to your page a while back to look at a quilt you had made. I'm still wanting to do the Labyrinth Walk but it can wait. Yours turned out so nice.

I wonder why the kids were scared of this angel? She doesn't look scarey. You transformed her with your paint! I'll let you get back to your painting. Just know you have been missed.

Thank you Lady, I miss all you guys too but the painting bug has struck lol. I have finished painting her, she wore me out lol. I don't know why her grown kids were scared of her or they didn't like her. I think she reminded them of a Cemetary? Well I was going to put her in the backyard where my doggies are buried but I didn't want her to be grey as my doggies gave me much joy in their short life.

That is why I had to paint her, it was a job.

I haven't deserted the board. I have just been doing other things, like painting and knitting in the evening, now that our Florida winter is upon us lol. I will post a couple of the paintings I have so far. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I spent all my birthday money on lovely yarn lol. I can't find my files but I posted them to Pinterest. Go to the folk art page and the first four item are the ones I just did. The angle is a 4ft statue that my neighbor threw away, It was all black and grey and very sad looking but I knew she had possibilities.

Now I do crochet when I need something in that line. I spotted this very colorful pillow on line and she gave directions and I just had to do it. I knitted it all in Red Heart yarn. The front is crochet and the back I knitted.

You are so creative! I've missed your posts -- I'm not sure how you get so much done but you are an inspiration to the rest of us!

Rosyhf 10-25-2014 12:01 PM

Thank you ladies, I do miss you guys and I will try to post more often. I get in frenzies lol. Now I am in a knitting frenzy. I saw this most beautiful shawl with so many beautiful stitches that I just had to give it a try. So far so good, I got help with it from a nice group of ladies on Ravelry. I am not that experienced with the knitting language so sometimes I have to ask if something doesn't make sense to me lol....but wait until you see this beauty. I hope to finish it maybe this weekend. I am actually knitting two of them. One in Red heart the cheaper yarn and the other in the expensive yarn. I make all my mistakes on the cheaper one lol. Not to say that Red H isn't good yarn. I just prefer a mix on wool, silk, and some other fiber/.

Since I had quite a bit of birthday money, I was able to purchase some very nice yarns. My favorite being "Malabrigro Rios." you know, I don't give Christmas or occasion presents because I don't like to be pressured. I stopped doing it years ago. When I saw this shawl and the beautiful yarn, I immediately thought of four lifelong friends that I would knit it for. So I have three more to go and they will get them way before Christmas lol.

I give a gift when I see something that I know one of my friends would like and I give it anytime, no occasion. My friend all know that about me lol......so off I go to continue....

Hello ladies, just had to drop in to say hi. I can't believe it's been four months since I came to visit. I have been doing Craig's list, getting rid of stuff no longer needed and clearing out so I have more room for just the quilting and the painting. I have a quilt in mind that I will be doing soon, so I will be back lol.....

Teddybear Lady 03-04-2015 04:45 PM

Glad to hear from you. Sounds like you've been busy.
