Help with a embroidery design
 

I have this design I am going to put on one of my husband's vests and his hat.

As you can see the outline does not line up properly on the flags. And the red stripes do not go to the edge where it meets the outline. I don't have an editing program for my machine, so any ideas y'all may have I would love to hear them.

Can you go to the site you got it from and D/L again? Maybe the file was corrupted originally. You might want to install the free My Editor program....I think you can fix the design with it, but it has a learning curve that you might not have time for.

Not sure how many stitches are in this design or what type of stabilizer was used but from the puckering evident on the design, I'm wondering if the gaps are a digitizing issue or poor registration due to the fabric or stabilizer combination used. Embroidery Library has a pretty good reference that explains this issue under the tab 'Helpful How To's, in an article called 'Mind The Gap'. I will try to include a link to this article but if I'm not able to get it to work it should be fairly easy to find at the Embroidery library website. Not sure if this will help but it may be worth checking out.

this is sooo helpful, cactus. i'm having this problem with my brand new destiny. now i know what to suggest to the technition when i take it in at the end of this month.

QuiltnNan - Glad it helps! When I have a particularly large design to do I start with two layers of stabilizer in the hoop so I have less to float when reaching the stitch maximum for the stabilizer. Also, it really helps if those two layers run the opposite direction, sort of like grain on fabric. The recent thing I've learned is to use the built in basting stitches around the design. Sometimes it seems like a pain to remove the "knot" but overall it provides just one more support that helps keep my design from pulling!

I am going to try a heavier fabric and a different stabilizer and see if that helps.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fabric or stabilizer. I think it is a poorly digitized design. Test it out on thin and thick fabrics and with different stabilizers and don't pull or stretch the fabric when you hoop it. If you keep getting the same results then it is probably poorly digitized.

I was thinking of this also. If I get time this weekend............still seeding the lawn.......still have about 3/4 of the yard left.......it's a big yard....lol

I have had that problem before and it was the stabilizer. I went from tear away to regular stabilizer and used a heavy spray of 505 temporary spray adhesive for the hat. Once it is stable it should stitch out.
