Help ID a Mystery Crochet item

Just got back from the thrift store. Great day! Got 23 pieces of Otagiri stoneware, Bittersweet pattern, for $23 (according to Replacements, a $369 value).
I also got a crocheted item. It was hanging with the tablecloths, and I could tell it was hand done. $4. I got it home and laid it on the floor and now I'm puzzled. It's round on one end and squared off on the other. It's 6' long and about 64 inches wide. Any ideas? Could it maybe be a counterpane for a twin where the squared off end would go over the pillow and the rounded end would be at the foot? Doesn't make sense that it would be half an oval table cloth. Also, you can't see in the photo, but the centers of all the rosettes have 3D flowers, so you really couldn't set something on it...

Maybe a pram baby blanket? Perhaps a doily for the long settee or lounger. It is lovely! It is hard to say as it could be a one of kind doily for over the parlor organ or .......

My first thought was that it's cradle-shaped!

I have no idea what it might be. It is gorgeous and you are very lucky to get it.
I remember the rosettes fro the 50s. Doilies were sometimes crochet with those in the center and usually colored thread was used. At least the ones I saw were.

I agree with Tartan that it's for a baby to use in a pram or bassinet. Sure is lovely.

Seems kind of large for an infant. It's six feet long and over five feet wide (72 X 64) It's more on the dimensions of a double bed (75 X 53). There are 2 areas where the thread has come loose, but in both places, it's a single thread and will be easily mended. Just thought of someone's grandma spending months crocheting those rosettes made me bring it home.

I agree a coverlet makes sense. It is simply too large for anything baby related.

When I was growing up we had a lady friend who lived near us that had one very much like that one on her bed.
