I think the book gave more details - about Elizabeth's relationship with her daughter, Skeeter's relationship with Stuart, and more about Constantine. But I thought the movie was excellent, but I WAS glad I read the book first.

Both were great. The movie followed the book very close.

The book was great and so was the movie. I can't remember a movie that follows the book so closely. I had to see the movie a second time after I found out a friend from high school was an extra so I had to watch for her.

I read the book, haven't seen the movie yet, but I generally find that the movie version of books disappointing because the director's "visual concept" is different than what I "saw" (in my mind's eye) while reading the books.

One exception that comes to mind is "The Bridges of Madison Country"....I felt the movie complimented the book beautifully.

Robin, I thought of that, but I believe the waiting list at my library is hundreds of people long. The movie will have gone to video before I ever read it if I wait that long, and this is one I'd like to see in the theater.

I think the book is better it's more detailed and I think while reading the book I have a pic in my mind about what the characters look like and they don't look that way in the movie. Sue

I saw the movie today with my daughter. We both had read the book, so was anxious to see what they had done with the movie.... we enjoyed it, although we thought the book was better.

I don't think anyone that has read the book would be disappointed in the movie!
