I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know. And as for me...I'm crafty...but not necessarily in the naming department. But I will keep my thinking cap on just in case the brain cells surprise me.

Each member colors a cut-out block which is then laminated, hole-punched, threaded with selvedge, and worn around the neck during meetings.

how about: the Special People Quilt Guild

Good ideas! I was thinking similarly, triggered by the "sewing room" vs "sewing studio" discussion. Studio has an air of importance to it. Musicians & artists don't hesitant to say studio. I think we shouldn't either. And maybe so should these students...guild meetings in their studio!

Patchwork Kids, use a 4-Patch for your id symbol

Don't use the name Special... that unfortunately has bad connotations in education.

Since you might find over time that making aprons, and other non-quilted things will be practical, I'd stay away from a name that denotes quilting only.

Stitching Pros? Stitching All-Stars?

This entry made me think of Studio Guild. So why not "Wonder Valley Studio Guild" I think that sounds grown up and important. What a wonderful idea.
Reminds me of the saying "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him forever"

`I agree, but taught all my 4-H kids both skills....

I also agree the word special is not a good one to use--due to "special ed" designation!

I was not offended--did not think you were sniping at me--just frustrated as my brain would not engage for a GOOD name!

Please join us in changing the lives of these girls with new skills. You are right--teaching them to "fish" changes their lives. Wish I were closer. I taught 16 of the 17 girls in my 4 H Horsemanship club to sew one summer, and they all made horse furnishings for the shows, and most of their school clothes. My sewing machine and serger were VERY busy!
