Help needed. Flood damaged item
 

Daughter's home flooded and left some damaged stored items. A crocheted round tablecloth was among some of her treasures that got badly stained. Have any of you very talented ladies/gents successfully removed stains from like items. TIA for any help you can give me. It would be a huge blessing to her as it was made by a very special person. Try soaking it in retroclean for 3 or 4 days

I agree with using retroclean. I've seen several things saved by using it.

Another product made especially for cleaning vintage linens is Restoration.

I've not used it for flood water stains, though. Years ago I did clean flood stained clothes for an aunt and uncle. I remember I had to clean multiple times with a variety of laundry stain remover products and laundry soaps. People who have never been in a flood think it's just water, which it isn't. It's thick and muddy, like brown pea soup, and it has sewage in it. Lots of pathogens, not healthy at all. It stains the walls inside and outside of the house, everything it touches.

Sorry to confuse all. This was not from a flood but from frozen pipes and a finished basement floor got very wet and soaked some things stored in boxes. Think I will try some of these remedies suggested since there was no sewage or chemicals involved. Will let you know how it turns out.
