Here's a Real Giggle!

I just had to post this as I'm still "giggling" over it. My BFF and I went loafering today to some thrift and antique shops in a nearby town. I was looking through the kitchen utensil section of one and came across some older pressure cookers minus the pressure weights but with the following note attached: "Please ask at the front desk for the giggler". My BFF had to read the note twice before she could figure out what I was in hysterics about. We checked out the clerks carefully, but none of them seemed to be especially prone to fits of the giggles!

they were talking about the jiggler on the top that lets the steam out.

"and here's your sign..... " (Bill Engval)

See? Sometimes it DOES help to spell correctly, rofl!! Thanks for the chuckle!!!

p.s. This reminds me of the time my mom and I were driving and saw a sign that said "groj sale". Took us a minute to figure out what it was SUPPOSED to say!

We saw a sign on the road once advertising Patotos for sale - we still call them that, lol! But my all time favorite --

"tattooing done while you wait".

In a farming area a few years ago, there was a sign saying "peacock eggs for sale". Anyone raising peafowl should know that only hens lay eggs. LOL

"GROJ" stands for "getting rid of junk"! i've had a couple of those sales, myself!

My favorite funny "sign" is one that is purely accidental, made up by poor placement of two other signs. It is on Manchester street, in St. Louis. As you drive down the street, you look up, and are suprised to learn that...."Jesus Saves Green Stamps"

A shop near us has a hand painted sign that reads tin
ting

They tint windows!

Hey! That's how my husband spelled it on a large sign for a garage sale back in the 80's. Then to top it off, he put the wrong address! I still tease him by calling big things 'hugh'!

Kim Bohannon 01-18-2012 07:34 AM

that is cute! I have never heard those called "gigglers"

THANK you for this!!! We have never heard of this term in my region of the country. Strangely enough, it makes me feel better, thinking that the person who wrote it wasn't a complete spelling dunce.
