Why do some users show "in hiding" ? I don't care if people know where I'm from. :shock:

If you haven't added where you are to your profile, this is what automatically shows up. :)

And here I thought that is was people that were participating in the Secret Santa or the other secret things that didn't want people guessing that it was from them from their address.

We are 'in hiding' because of the Secret Quilt Angel project that kwhite is doing.

You can read about it if you go to HOME, MEMBER SWAPS... and look for the topic.

After you read it, I think you will better understand.

As far as not putting anything in your location area, it just stays blank.

Some of us do care. I've been more open about where I am on this board than any other, but I don't usually like mixing my online activities with my offline world. There are online places where I wouldn't want to be recognized offline. (such as when I'm discussing my job hunt or dieting, for example - I wouldn't want anyone thinking I frequent websites/forums I'd be embarrassed to own up to!)

For others, it's just a privacy thing, being careful. Nothing wrong with that.

Just listing your state or geographic area won't give away your identity. Listing the state allows others to search for you in case they are passing through or would like to meet others in their area. There are enough members in Florida, that my secret pal would be guessing.

A lot of us are new and don't know our way around. A recent post came and I found out how to add my state. I would like to post a picture, but only know how to do that with a response to someone else. I love just reading questions and looking at all the pictures. The old saying a picture is worth a thousand words. That said I have learned a lot by reading and going to sites that have been posted.
Any help would be appreciated.

To add a pic of yourself or something else, go to 'My Profile", scroll down until you see "Avatar", hit the browse button, choose from which area you want to take a pic from. Of course we are presuming you have some already loaded into your PC. Choose the pic, you will see the pic addy in the line before browse, then click on "update avatar.' That should do it.
