i can't help but wonder this:

why are so many members in hiding? can you at least tell us your state? why is it a secret? just wondering.

Some folks are in hiding because of the Secret Quilt Angel. They don't want to give their location away and let anyone figure out where the gifts are coming from.

surely not everyone is a secret quilt angel

btw, what is a secret quilt angel?

I think the SQA is a year-long gift-giving exchange where the participants are assigned a partner and assorted gifts and goodies (squishies and firmies) are sent anonymously. At a specific date in December, the identity of the angels and "angelees" is revealed.

No, it is just silly. All it does is create havoc and repetition of "Where are you?" The quilt angel thing is a version of secret pal. Somehow, they expect other members to forget where they are, just because it is no longer displayed. Not making a lot of sense to me, but who knows?

It also sets a bad example for newbies who do not feel it is neccessary to fill out a profile so folks can get to know them.

well, in keeping with what moonpi said, the angel would have to travel to mars to mail their package to keep their hometown a secret, since the post office does postmark them and we know how to read. how 'anonymous' can that be? if my package said central new jersey everyone with eyes would know who i was.

I am a sqa and agree with all of you. I didn't change mine and now wonder where everyone is from, especially the newbies.

i just read the above link and had to laugh out loud!. i was never a secret angel and even I know who some of those people are!

so how hard can it be?

It's just all part of a sense of fun...I'm not in the Secret Angel swap, but if I was, and you saw a postmark of Redmond, OR, it wouldn't be hard to guess who I was, by my location here.

By taking out my location, if someone doesn't know me well, then they might have a harder time guessing...

It's just a game, it's fun, kind of like knowing where everyone is from...what difference does it make?

I like it when members post what state that are in. This is such a cool group, maybe we need to educate them to say what state or country they are from?
