Just curious why everyone hides their location. I like to know if someone might be close to me but I can't tell. Is there a reason I should know about? Thanks, Carreen

I wondered also. Thought it may be a cyber-space fear type of thing - identity safety. I hope not.

I like to know, too. Its fun when you find someone in your area.

For me, it's a safety - identity protection issue. I put a broad area as my location, so you know about where I am but you have to do more hunting to find my house ... especially if I'm posting about the great LQS's I'm finding when I'm travelling <as in, no one is at my house>.

Yes, the only reason I feel comfortable putting my location is that Brooklyn has over 2.5 million people.

In Hiding indicates that they haven't updated their profile as to their location. This is done under your profile (My Profile).

Some people choose not to change the setting for privacy concerns.

Some folks don't know how to put location in their profiles and some don't put it if they participate in secret angel or Santa swaps and they don't want folks guessing who they are. And some just like to keep their whereabouts not so public.

Some do it for privacy reasons, some are/have been in swaps where identities aren't revealed until the end.

If you want to find someone in your area, you can post a meet and greet, gather in a public location to get to know each other :D:D:D
