Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamp

I received this for Christmas last year and didn't know where to put it. Any suggestions??

Mariposa 04-20-2016 07:42 AM

I'd suggest putting it in your bedroom. Perhaps on the nightstand. That's where I have mine. :)

I have a mother in law's tongue plant in the bedroom....supposed to
be good to keep air clean....just needs watering once a week, if I remember...no electricity $$$$

im guessing this does get dusty. How do you clean it.....never heard of this before!

I've had one for several years. It's in my living room as an accent lamp/nightlight. The only time it isn't on is when the light bulb burns out. Buy this if you want a pretty lamp and not for the medical claims. I have migraines which they claim it will help. I wish I could say it has. Dust isn't a problem, it never really gets dusty. Wipe it off with a damp paper towel occasionally keeps it clean.

I had similar for Christmas and put it on the hearth as the fire wasn't lit. My dogs were very upset by it and kept looking and growling at it when it was on. When switched off they took no notice of it. I only switch on when I am in the room. The dogs just keep away now .

There is a store in the Old Port in Portland, ME that has these and lots of other beautiful items. I can't wait to get down there again and take DH with me next time but I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen any benefits from this?

My posts don't seem to be getting through. Is anyone else having a problem on the Board?

I have one in my living room I use at night just for a little light effect. Love it.

I have two, one in my bedroom and one in the front hall bathroom used by guests. They are never turned off and give a soft lovely glow to the room. I DO know that they do "something" because my bedroom has an atmosphere of calm that no other room has, except the front bath.
They never gather dust.

Have had one for years in living room, have not noticed any benefits...its a nice night light...

They change the energy in a room with the release of negative ions. We have one and I love it. Bought one for my in-laws as it was always so dreary. Even on sunny days, just being there an hour, I was exhausted. So I gave them one for Christmas and it has drastically changed the energy in the house. Much lighter now.

We have one in the living room on a table at the back of a couch.....it is on all the time and doesn't seem to bother either the dog or the cat...

It is touted as an odor killer among other things. I have one in a spare room I use for watching TV sometimes. I am (unfortunately) still a smoker and there is no smoke smell in the room. Wonder if it would work in my kitchen for cooking odors??? Maybe I will try that....

Thank you for bringing my attention to salt lamps. Just ordered one for my daughter for her birthday which is April 30th. She really likes natural things.

saikat68 12-30-2016 11:20 PM

It made from pieces of HImalayan slat crystal, with interior decorations and act as natural sources of light. When you place a Himalayan salt lamp in every room, the home can reap several health and environment. It will balance Electromagnetic Radation. Himalayan salt lamps emit negative ions and cancel out positive ones. http://www.jpost.com/PromoContent/5-Amazing-Himalayan-Salt-Lamps-You-Can-Buy-Right-Now-441101

Have had one for several years, the light bulb just went out. We like it but don't notice any difference either.

I have a 3in thick slab of this for cooking meat/fish on top of. And fine ground is our table salt of choice. I have thought about getting the lamp but haven't found the right one just yet.
