That's so scary. We live in a rural community and there have been a lot of breakins in our area lately too. Our "security system" is in my avatar LOL. He holds the floor down really well but he is a sight to behold when he comes up off the floor all of a sudden thinking there is a 'truder.

Check your local laws on them. we bought a house years ago in Milwaukee WI with one. It had doors, windows and inferred. Our husky was board with us gone and would turn the door knobs to escape the den downstairs then run the house. The police would respond and he scared them to death as he jumped at the fench windows in excitement to play. We had to go to court about he false alarms and fines. That's when we found out about the laws on them and were given amnesty if we kept it from happening again

I have ADT and have had it for more than 20 years. Of course, they have upgraded it many times. 2 years ago I had it totally redone. I feel extremely safe..all windows and doors are monitored on the first floor and some on the second if there is a way to get near them. I love it. I am a widow and that is why I had mine totally redone. The salesman was good and knew exactly what I wanted and needed.

We have ADT for 8 years. All windows/doors are wired. Remote control for when you leave. We had a break in 3 years ago. Police were here in 3 minutes. Nothing taken.I love this company.

We have Protect America wireless security system. All doors and windows are alarmed and we have been very happy with it.

We have ADT and LOVE it. We have both doors alarmed and all the rooms downstairs have motion detectors. I spend lots of time alone here and I feel so much safer with it, I put the little ADT sigh out front so the bad guys have fair warning. I sleep upstairs and turn the alarms on when I go to bed, I have the key fob so I can disarm it before coming down in the morning. The keyfob also has a panic mode. We have a serious Meth problem inour twon and one of the ladies in my quilt group had her house broken into while they were gone for a couple of weeks. She didn't have an alarm. I couldn't rest without my ADT.

Even with a security alarm system, installing lights around the perimiter of your home is suggested plus get rid of shrubs near your windows where a subject could hide. When gone, close curtains, leave a light or two on and leave a tv on so it seems like someone is home. Timers work great to turn lights on and off. We are fortunate to have dogs and when we go on vacation we have a housesitter come and stay with the dogs.

There is NO place safe anymore, and you are very wise to get a security system. I use ADT (actually, it used to be Brinks), and so far I've liked it ok, but I haven't been "tested," thank goodness. All my windows, as well as doors are covered. The only really weak point, I think, are the double doors in my bedroom, which, it seems to me, would be easy to kick open, if one really wanted to. So I intend to have burglar bars put up over them. Wasn't it nice when we could live without so many fears? Yeah.....

We had ADT several years ago and had no problems. Now we just have a big dog. She barks when she hears anything unusual. Having a sign that says you have a security system is almost as good as having one. Thieves shy away from house with security systems. When we moved I took the sign from a previous system and just put it in the yard. That and three big dogs seems to work too.

Just a note- I was home alone the other night, and my neighbor called to say she was coming over to visit. I figured since I was bored, why not. When she got to my house, she walked into my laundry room, without knocking. Thank the Lord she did not open the inner door. My dog was at the door, hackles up, and snarling! I had to yell "don't touch the door!" I then dragged my dog to my bedroom, and shut the door on him. I let my neighbor in, and explained how close she had come to being 'doggie dinner', and warned her to never do that again. This is the first time his 'territory' was tested, and he came through for me! I love my furry burglar eater!

Best part of Doggie Security- no one can take it away, and use it against you.
