horror story

So yesterday------my dh..sweetiepoo that he is--decides to take the a/c unit out of our guestroom window (also my temporary sewing space).
When he did..it decided to leak water all over the new carpeting. He was not a happy camper--
and grabbed a yummy piece of aqua minky dot fabric i was saving for a special quilt to sop up the water.
I tried not to get upset...but ..dont touch my minky!!!!

Think it will wash up ok?

I think it will wash out ok unless it has rust or chemicals in the water.

Yes. I like to use All with Oxy Clean (the one in the white bottle - no smells). Just wash it up on warm and dry it and see how it goes. If there are obvious stains, pour the detergent directly on the stain, let it set 10 minutes, then wash.

Minkee is very sturdy. And maybe, in the future, keep a couple of ratty towels handy! LOL, poor DH!

Bless his heart:( He was in a no win situation. Some guys have no idea how important our fabric is. I would think that it will wash out just fine. Let us know the outcome.

I would think it would wash up fine. After all, look at all the washing baby quilts get. Does Minky fray or is it more like fleece? Since it will have been washed you might want to prewash any other fabrics you will be using.

Is he on a bread and water diet for the next 2 weeks?

As I see it..It's all your fault for leaving such a tempting item with his grasp.......J/K

Hope all goes well with the cleaning of your precious Minky.

Let us know how everything ends up.

The Minky should wash up okay but even if it doesn't it is still better than a big stain on your new carpet. Would it have been better if he came prepared with an old towel, of course but that horse has left the barn, that dog has died, the fat lady has sung etc etc etc.

I prewash my minky after I had it RUN and ruin a quilt. It washes great

Would the Minkee not get washed in a quilt?
Therefore ... it's washable!

From what I've heard about Minkee shedding ... you might want to run the raw edge it thru a serger first .... or it may vanish in the wash!

It's Minkee, not silk taffeta, right?
